Has anyone heard any buzz on when the boundary map for the new Cleveland High School will be made? With both schools so close to each other I'm very curious to see how they will draw the map.
I hope the kids that live way way over in Clayton near US70 can go to the new school. (the Little Creek Ch Rd area). They now HIKE over to WJHS. I also wonder how the SSS & SJHS areas will change.
Cleveland High Community meeting I found this scheduled meeting on the Jo Co schools' website and thought of this thread. The meeting is scheduled for tonight. Cleveland HS Community Mtg,SB Bd Rm,7:00-8:30 pm,Anne Meredith
KelYel I agree. We live off Little Creek Church Rd and were fortunate to have both our girls go to Clayton High instead of WJHS. Our neighborhood was zoned for West Johnston but it was just too long and dangerous a drive in our opinion with all the curvy back roads. WJHS is a great school but Clayton High was only a 5 min drive from us! WJHS was 35 on a good day.
I wonder with the size this school is going to be if they are going to end up putting a traffic light at the corner of Polenta and Indian Camp
I feel sorry for the folks along Polenta. A) they are widening the road and taking their property to do it and not from where the school is. At least thats the way it looks with the markers. B) All those stadium lights
It seemed like that was a big enough piece of land they could have made that curve a little less sharp, too.
For some strange reason, I thought this new HS would have been located closer to 40/42; closer to West View and Cleveland ES.
I live off of Indian Camp and I can imagine it is going to be a bloody nightmare traffic wise on Polenta once the school opens.
Good grief, that made me think about how you would get there from Barber Mill - 3 left turns (left on Grill, left on Polenta, left into the school) and no traffic lights. Great. Or is there a better way that I'm not thinking of?
The only other access road is that dirt road Monroe Road. But yes they needed to access it from Cleveland School road at Barber Mill Road
Speaking of Monroe Rd.,I wonder if it will it ever be paved? It usually looks like a horrible trash dump,at times even including deer carcasses. What a way to treat one's own neighborhood :x
I think this land was either donated or sold to the county for a good price - so that would dictate where to put the school I suppose?
I think I remember reading on the boards a year or so ago that it had belonged to the DR Wells family. I can not remember if it was sold or donated.
