Where does one go to make a certified copy of something, and how much does it cost?

What do you need a certified copy of? Usually, it would be the person charged with keeping the records, and it's a few dollars. For example, a certified copy of a death certificate would be provided by the registrar of deeds, for $10.00.

I just want to make a copy of something, and have it documented as being a true unforged copy.

Maybe a bank or a lawyers office would do that for you - if they have proof its not forged?

I just renewed my notary license a couple months ago and if I recall correctly, NC does not allow notary publics to perform certified copies. Remember, notaries are actually only confirming you are the person signing the document. I never even read or look at what kind of document I'm notarizing - just ID the person and watch them sign. Some things I just don't need to know about:lol: I could be mistaken though. I would call the Secretary of State's office to confirm if you try to go this route.

After 11 dossiers done, I think I got this question--LOL. Go get it notarized. Then, go to the registrar of deeds office IN THE COUNTY OF TH NOTARY(very important or you'll have to do it all over again). They'll give you a certified copy for $10. May have gone up since I last went but check. If you want it ultimately certified, apostille it. Waked county does the registering & apostiling together usually but a two stop process. Secretary of STate's office is where this is done. Hope that helped some.
