I just heard yet another report about it on the morning news.
My husband had the tell tale symptom of the so called bulls eye rash about 1 1/2 month ago,I had made him a Doctors appointment at the time but he had to work that day and so I had to cancel it.
The rash has gone away since then but I know it doesn't mean that the Lyme disease has also.
I'm trying to get him to go and see a doctor but so far no luck, being w/o insurance doesn't help off course.
I know that it is usually treated with antibiotics but I wonder how long after having been infected the antibiotics wont do the trick any longer?
Anyone here ever been treated for it?
    Thanks!

I'm the resident Lyme Disease Expert!!!

go to the NC Lyme Disease Website (google NC Lyme Disease Foundation). Send an email to them and tell them a synopsis of what is going on. They will send you several Lyme Literate Doctors in North Carolina. Insurance3 won't matter because typically they don't accept insurance.

Mine does not. I've paid a pretty penny to get well. I went untreated from 1995 to 2007. I had lots of problems, but didn't associate it to a tick bite.

If you want, check out my blog.

Pay the money and get treated! If you get treated early enough, they can cure it. If not, you're stuck with it in your system forever. I know two people who suffer with it now and it causes all kinds of problems. One recently filed for permanent disability due to the disease. I'm very close to the other girl and when she has 'spells' it is really bad. She is severly fatigued and in a lot of pain, and misses a lot of work.

My dad got treated about 2 months after showing the rash and they believe that he will be fully cured. It was on a heavy set of antibiotics for a few weeks and now has to wait 2 years I think to find out for sure if it is completely gone.

Crysta, i'm sure you know it's never really completely gone. It can recur even after years of not showing symptoms. :=(

I agree with you though ,, pay the money! Get treatment. I've spent the last 2 1/2 years in treatment. I'd pay it all over again to get to the point I am now. No I'm not perfect, but I am alive! I can walk. I can talk. I can work! Most of the time people don't even know that there is something wrong with me. Ask Red ... I don't think she would have known if I hadn't told her or worn a mask over to her house or had the PICC line. :|

Annette, I sent you a PM.
