Ha, I am not offended. I am outraged that people like you (sterotyping, bigoted, possibly racist) live in my small close-knit community.

 

I think we can all agree that low income housing may just have on average a higher crime rate than other housing. HOWEVER, that does not mean that very good law abiding citizens do not reside there and that low income housing always equals a place of higher crime. And I am in no way trying to defend or help NY9 who appears to be a real POC.

 

Well let me just step right on out and say that I have applied for one of the apts. Now they are income based in a sense but not like some income based. You have to make above a certain amount but below a certain amount. This type of housing is supposed to help those of us that work hard but do not make enough to live where we might like. I made my choices in life. I didn't go to college like I should have when I graduated from high school. I ended up have a baby at 19. I had 2 more over the next 16 years of my life. I didn't get government help although I did have medicaid for my first son because I couldn't begin to afford health insurance through my job. I married a man 4 years ago. We had a child and I was a stay at home mom for 3 years. Then my husband decided he loved someone else and he left. Now I am looking for a place to live where I can take care of my children. So I guess I will polish up my 9 mm and get ready to have a shoot-out at Cleveland Green.

You can't just make blanket statements like that unless you are willing to back it up with hard facts and evidence that what you say is true statistically. And even if statistaclly the crime rate may be higher you can't stereotype the people who live there because clearly that's just not the case all the time. I don't think at all that these apartments are going to have any problems. I think that if problems arrive with low income housing it has more to do with single family homes where there is no landlord/office to kick people out if there are problems. It has to go straight to the police.
