I had to take a class in Smithfield this past week. About 8 of us from the class went on Monday to Subway to get lunch (the one on Brightleaf by Foodlion). That afternoon, I got very ill. I went to Urgent Care. I won't go into details, but it was not a good night. The doc at Urgent Care wanted me to get a CAT scan. We did not have class on Tuesday. On Wed, I went back to class to find out that 4 others also became very ill from that same Subway, and that we had all eaten the same thing. I went to my Primary Care doc and he determined that based on my blood work and the other information that it was probably food poisoning.

So, just a warning. And yes, they have been reported so there will be an investigation.

    yuck.

Subway = :ack: to me anyway. I'm sorry that happened to you. I've heard that a lot of times these 24 hour stomach bugs we get are actually food poisening. I've had it once for certain. Lost 7 pounds in a day. I thought I was going to die. :? Feel better!!!!

If you're talking about the one on South Brightleaf, I think I've heard a similar story before.

Out of curiosity, what did y'all eat there? Just wondering if it was the cold meat or something like tuna salad that was bad.

You did the right thing by turning them into the health department! I am curious on the grade Subway has posted.

I think they've had problems in the past with their health grades, as well...now that you mention it. You know, a lot of Subways post 98-102 and when you think about it, there is absolutely no reason for a Subway shop to have anything lower. I usually will cut a pizza place or other type of restaurant (buffets/cafeterias) a little more slack, but something as simple and straightforward as a sandwich shop, there's no reason to have a grade barely hovering above a B.
