Any body ever buy a car stereo from Sound Station in Smithfield? My car stereo is on its last leg. Want to get something nice but not too pricey
Look at Radio Active in Garner as well. We used to do alot of business with them and car audio competitions. Despite we had a personal falling out with the owner, I would still recommend them for local car stereo business. It looks like they have some good specials going on if you click on the Specials tab on their website. http://radio-active.com/index.htm
If all you are looking for is guys who only know how to do a deck and four and maybe install an amp (provided the instalation kit has instructions) then Best Buy is probably your best bet, however personally if I wasn't doing the work myself, I'd go to a specialty shop such as Radio Active, as the staff there are 99.9 percent of the time more knowledgeable about the differences of vehicles and is and isn't needed to tear about a car to do an install.
You can also try Pro Electronics in Raleigh 833-2800 they are awesome if I do say so myself, and have over 25yrs experience ( my daddy's buissness )
I have purchased 2 radios from Security Sound in Smithfield and was quite pleased with both. Unfortunately both of them were stolen from my son's car! Next system was purchased at the sound system place in the strip mall by Laugh Out Loud Comedy - can't remember the name exactly, but the owner was great to work with. I would definitely recommend them!
professional install would be your best bet, i've heard and seen horror stories of best buy employees hacking stereos in, without much concern for quality. As always, you get what you pay for.
Good point. I'd say consider the local shops, shop for the best price, and do a www.bbb.org search. The Better Business Bureau does a pretty good job of keeping record on businesses, even those who are not BBB accredited. Keep in mind, though that the BBB has also started using a letter-grade system and non-BBB businesses get nothing higher than a B, simply because they are not members. Also, pay attention to the number of complaints logged against any given business on the BBB file.
had to go to petsmart today to pick up some dog food. So I went into Best Buy. The computer area was a mad house for the tax free weekend. Walked over to the car stereos just to look at them and get an idea. My Mazda has what is called as a double din. In other words its double thick stereo. They only had one double din displayed and it was 599.00 No Thanks Way out of my price range. I didn't ask anyone if they had others. Didn't have the time or patients to deal with their sales people
You can install a single din in a double din slot. You install a pocket below the head unit that takes up the second space.
You can probably buy a install kit for about $40 or so that will allow you to installl a single din radio with either a storage pocket or plain blank below the radio. And $599 for a good double din isn't too bad when you look at some of the Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer top line double dins that run $1000 plus.
