anyone have any suggestions on cabins, etc in Maggie Valley? Kids seem to have their hearts set on going there for their honeymoon and i googled but it is really overwhelming, hopefully some of you have first hand experience and advice. TIA

Check out BoydMountain.com. We have stayed there a few times and it is beautiful. Old rustic cabins that are restored and fixed up really nice on the inside, a pond to fish in, in the summer a veggie garden to pick fresh veggies, totally furnished kitchen, fireplaces stocked with wood, all located on a Christmas tree farm. It was a beautiful place to stay!! I dont think they allowed pets but there are a couple of sweet dogs that belong to the family who owns the retreat that visit the cabins each AM.

Hubby and I have stayed here twice. We got married in Maggie Valley and it holds a dear place in our hearts. We always get the Sweet Serenity cabin. So that's the only one I can tell you about. There are other ones that are closer to the creek that runs along the back up against the mountain valley.

Gosh, now you have me wanting to go back to the mountains with the kids!

PETS: In the Honeymoon cabin and Honeymoon Deluxe absolutely no pets are allowed. Sorry!!! In Johnson Branch, Honeymoon Hideaway, and the Alpine Cabin only 1 dog under 25 pounds will be allowed for an additional $100 non-refundable pet fee. NO CATS or any other animals will be accepted.

Beautiful Views W/Hot Tub, central location

We spent a week in Maggie Valley this summer. Had a very nice cabin, see link: http://www.maggieview.com/ It had really great views and a waterfall nearby. The owner will probably work you a deal since it is slow up there right now.

Wasn't much to do in the Valley. But it was a great jumping off point for Cherokee (the olafta indian village, outdoor drama, swinging bridge), Asheville (the arboretum is free on tuesdays, Western NC zoo), and Waynesville. Now waynesville is just a little place be we really enjoyed it - they had lots of nice shops downtown and a Mast General Store where we enjoyed a coke with peanuts! Can't beat that... oh, and there are also the Elk at Chataloochee valley right down the road, very cool.
