While I was in bath & body works today I asked what was going in Walmart's old space and they said it was gonna be a Big Lots! Yippee!!
Actually it was still open and operational in the mid to late 90's as my wife moved here then and it was still open.
Big Lots is okay. Not a lot of things there that interest me that much, but you can luck up and find some deals there. Tell ya the truth, some of their furniture sits about as good as stuff you'd find that Macy's for 10 times the price. May not last as long, though. One thing that they are good for is around Christmas time. When you have kids in the family you need to buy for, you can always pick up something there a little cheaper than you could at other stores.
We can hope! There is one on Glenwood Avenue that is the bomb. It is the nicest, cleanest Big Lots I have ever been in.
Awesome - now we can buy cereal that's been duct taped shut and creamed corn in a rusty can. Heck - I might even pick up some dead batteries while I'm there.
WooHoo!! I'm looking for a refurbished rectal thermometer myself. Let me know if you come across one while you're there.
There was a big scandal about the one that used to be in Garner. Someone made off with a large sum of money, like near $50,000, they couldn't prove if it was the bookkeeper or the Manager. It probably was both, in my opinion. If anyone is disatisfied with the condition of a store they should report them to corporate headquarters, they will check it out. They closed the store down and carried the Manager out on a stretcher... It definately was being managed poorly. Catch you later!!
I thought that big scandal was the PharMor. Same management? The old Big Lots was on Tryon Road. Was replaced by Southern States, and the building is now a church, I believe.
I know exactly where Big Lots was, I saw EMS wheel the manager out on a stretcher. It definately was Big Lots. I was going by and got nosey when I saw the activity, (ambulances, fire trucks and police) and stopped. A employee explained everything to me and a security person was there also..
When I was little my grandpa called it Pig Lots. I thought he was just old and didn't know the real name, but now that I am older I realize he probably knew what he was saying all along!
Calm Down! That was not at all directed at you! The info on Big Lot's location was for those who did not know. And supposedly, that is the exact same reason the PharMor in Garner was closed. Just making a comparison, not a personal attack. I will leave that to those on here who specialize in it, lol.
