That is out of the way for me unless I am specifically going to Lowes Foods. However, that is 3 cnets cheaper than what I paid at Sam's last evening! Could have gotten it across the street for 2.46, but it was too late; wasn't going to backtrack and sit through the stupid light again to save 45 cents. I hate that you can't see the Sam's price unless you either drive to the pumps or the front of the store - grrrr!

I read in a previous edition of the Cleveland Post that they are building an Applebee's across from the new Walmart. If I find the article I will post. It's suppose to be done in a few months.

I could think of many other places I would rather see there. I've never been a big fan of Applebee's.

Applebee’s to open in Cleveland (article from clevelandpost)

The Apple Gold Group, franchisee of Applebee’s restaurants in North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arkansas, is proud to announce it has broken ground on its 72nd franchise location, the 51st in North Carolina. The new restaurant will be located at the Interstate 40/Highway 42 interchange, across from the new Wal-Mart shopping center. The restaurant will open in early November. “After considering many sites in rapidly-growing Johnston County, we felt the site at 40/42 represented the best opportunity for us to open a successful restaurant and improve Applebee’s overall presence in the areas southeast of Raleigh,” said Michael Olander, president and CEO of Apple Gold Group. “We are excited that the first restaurant we build featuring the new ‘Encore prototype’ look will be close to home.” The Encore look will feature new and modern design elements, including a stucco and stone exterior and new interior motif, all executed with new sign designs and a fresh look to the menus. The restaurant is projected to employ approximately 75 people. Novel fundraising opportunity For the first time, Apple Gold is proud to announce it will donate to a local non-profit charity organization the proceeds from a private, employee-training lunch event held the Saturday before the Grand Opening. During the event, set for early November, Applebee’s will play host a lunch for individuals invited by the local charity, offering a 50-percent discount from the listed menu price, with 100-percent of the proceeds going to the charity. Applebee’s is currently looking for a worthy local charity to partner with – charities wishing to be considered can apply by calling (919) 846-2577. The charity will be selected by a board of Apple Gold Group employees. Support of local charities is an essential element of Applebee’s mission to be America’s Favorite Neighbor. In addition to restaurant promotions for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, every Apple Gold Applebee’s is available to help charitable organizations in its community through its Flapjack Breakfast program. With this program, organizations can take advantage of Applebee’s kitchen facilities and experienced cooks to host a fun pancakes and sausage breakfast for their members. Applebee’s provides the food at wholesale price (around $2 per person), allowing the charity to sell tickets at sizeable profit to raise funds. To organize a Flapjack Fundraiser, contact your local Applebee’s store manager. For more information about Apple Gold Group Applebee’s, visit www.AppleGoldCareers.com.
