No, but mine is not near any trees. I use the little robot that looks like Kenny from South Park on during the week and brush the pool weekends, every so often I will use the real vacume, but really not so often. When I was at my old house it was vacume every weekend and skim every day cuz of the pine trees close to it, it was a pain.
We don't have really any trees in the yard. We have some woods behind us but they are a good distance away and there is one Leland cypress on the other side of the fence. We put shock in it every week and of course chlorine tablets but we have algae all the time; I knew it would be a lot of work but not this much work.
get it tested for phosphates - go up to Clear Water and they can test for you. i only vacuum mine about once every couple of weeks unless kids have gotten a lot of grass in it and i have one of the electric auto vacuums, love it. Also make sure all your other chemicals are balanced, the chlorine can't do it's job right if everything else is out of whack and i know some folks will have a fit but it does matter what kind of chlorine you buy - ck the bottles closely for other additives.
that is why i suggested phosphate testing, if her water is steadily growing algae then there has to be a reason for it.
