DW was there around 10 or so, and said there were no freebies. The only thing she mentioned that she bought was 5 lb. bags of sugar for $1. I was afraid to ask what else she bought.
Ok...apparently no one has answered this question yet...We went this morning, about 8:30 and they had a few freebies. They gave away vitamin water, cake from the bakery, some tortilla shells and chips, and some animal crackers/kellog's toys for the kids. They were also getting ready to do facepainting, and I wonder if more stuff was going to be done/given away later, because we were there early and they were just setting up. I think some things were marked down quite a bit, but I don't know how you would know about them, they didn't seem to be advertised. But the vitamin water was on sale for $1 (never bought it, don't know what it normally is), they had 1/2 gallon fruit punch, etc for $1, lunchables were on sale for 1.25, marked $1.54, and that's all I saw but there might have been more. They were handing flyers for cheap haircuts today too if anyone was interested, $8/kids, I think $10 for adults. There is a McD's in there, a bank, pharmacy, optical, haircuts, bank, and probably other things I didn't see. I saw AWMom in there, she said where she parked it said there was a drive-through pharmacy, but I didn't see that. It was a very nice store, HUGE, and they had I think every single employee there this morning, including all the big-wigs. I hope that answers everyone's questions!
We went. Loved the store! Wide aisles, nice layout though it will take a bit to get used to. They had minimal freebies compared to the one in Clayton years ago. But, a couple good deals. Nothing to miss work for though for sure--LOL. Free cake, free tortilla chips & wraps, and free vitamin water. They had someone from optometry shop passing out coloring books for kids and if you win w/ the color contest, a free backpack w/ school supplies in it. Very organized and no long lines. We'll definitely go back. Oh, on August 29th, they're having a grand opening for the whole center & they'll be lots of things there then. Stephanie--mom to 7
Spoke with the wife around lunch time and she said the place was a zoo, but that they had some decent deals on the stuff she was looking for.....cat litter, dog food type stuff.
I stopped in because it was on my way. They had 5lb bags of sugar for $1. Store was very nice for Walmart. My only complaint was there are no cart returns on the outer edges of the parking lot. I got my exercise today.
Yay! I guess I'll have to go check this out. I keep telling them where I work (FL) that getting a Red Box would be such a good idea; it would be SO convenient for a lot of customers. Rumor has it that it has been discussed in the company, and it looks good, but you know how that is...believe it when we see it.
I know I worked a brief stint at the wal mart on 70. It took them a while to get the cart returns. One thing that always made me laugh was they do not call them shopping carts, they call them buggy's. And when ever they would send out the kids to go get them they would announce a 'buggy round up"
Has anyone done a rootcause analysis on the Freeway shutdown yet? My bet is Walmart is the rootcause!
Stephanie - I bet we were there the same time this morning!! Although I'm bummed, didn't see the coloring books for kids, they would have liked that. ANd thanks for the heads up on the grand opening the 29th, did you happen to hear what they're doing, will Walmart be involved with that too? OK, you're all going to think I'm nuts, but I actually went again (long story), and they have a ton of freebies outside now, nothing huge, but if you like free samples then it's a good time to go! They had some freezer pops, hot sauce, pickles, sandwiches, grilling hot dogs, soda, and can't remember what else. And they had more samples inside as well, like chocolate milk, crackers and cheese, and cookies, among other things. They definitely covered all their bases today, made sure they had enough lines open, employees, and the parking lot was actually not a nightmare like some people thought it would be, it all flowed really well. But it was packed! Had to park far away, especially this afternoon, so be prepared for that.
