Since there have been several recent posts regarding elementary students, I thought we should also remember those 4042ers that are starting college. Any advice out there for the locals that may stop by these forums to "check in on home"? Here's a little advice to get started: Watch your budget and shop around for deals. You can even find a six-pack for around one dollar.....for Ramen noodles that is!
Buy in bulk, sell 75% of the amount and the remaining 25% is yours free. Find the hot chick in each class and sit next to her, remember everyone is looking for new friends. Play the frats/sororities for as long as you can, you can go to any party you want and drink for free.
Here's one to remember....drinking or not! The KIC rule: For Boys: Keep It Covered For Girls: Keep It Closed For Parents will KIC your behind if you don't follow the KIC rule!
Just a sidenote here...I like your "new look"....nice teeth....made me think of the tale of Little Red Riding Hood when I realized how appropriate of you to represent the points in your posts with the new avatar.... "The better to eat you with my dear!"
Grocery List Ramen Texas Pete Beer You could mix it up w/ Macaroni & Cheese for those special occassions. Also: Once a month, eat an apple or a banana for some extra vitamins. You'll get enough Vitamin C from the limes you'll be eating w/ the tequila shots you'll be taking.
A good one to remember. If you start out bad in a class, start going to see your professor on a weekly basis with questions. Give the impression that you are trying hard even if you are not. Do not attempt this if you do not attend class on a regular basis.
For the parents of college freshmen: Drink Heavily Sell 75% of your kids stuff but keep 25% to look like you care Kick the KIC Rule Drink Heavily Enjoy Fine Dining and last... when "kicking the rule", use part of NY9's advice: Give the impression that you are trying hard even if you are not! Oh, sorry Tangerine...I came in after your post....but it's probably just as well that I didn't quote part of your post like "Don't pull it out"....
On a serious note: Girls, don't take a drink offered to you by someone you don't know as well as a drink that's already opened. Keep your drink in hand, never put it down and come back to it. Remember, safety in numbers and always have someone that's dependable to be DD. Too many lives lost in drunk driving. If need be, call your mom/dad/brother/sister, they'll understand and maybe raise a little hell at you for drinking too much, whatever it may have been, but you'll be safe etc. and when its all said and done your family loves you. Better yet, call a taxi to get back to the dorm. This was the best advice I was able to give my oldest, she's in her third year now. She's had a lot of fun in college and was very thankful for the advice as there were situations that occurred that ended with a better outcome than if she'd not been told this and other things to be wary of. I never want to have a Natalie Holloway situation with one of my children. Have lots of fun, choose good dependable friends and be one as well.
Good Advice! Also, let me add that although not all college students are going to "drink", they will be exposed to alot of students that are...and from experience, keep you purse/wallet safe! If not taking it with you when you go out, get a small lockable box for "valuables" and prescription meds....if you do go out to a party/club with purse/wallet....keep up with it. One time I was at a party and put my purse down to go dance for just a few minutes. I thought a friend was "watching" it for me and when I got back, my friend was gone and so was my purse....I didn't have any money but I missed my lipstick! Really, it was a hassle...had to get new driver's license, atm, etc. Just be wary!
Tell me about it. Books were knocking on the back door this go round for $800, no one wants to give up their major books, so the Jr./Sr. years get a little more expensive.
you got that right. my daughter just started her Sr year at Campbell. Books are outrageous. there will be no fine dining for me this year.
You'll be fine dining tonight. Check that I'm a day ahead of myself....it will be tomorrow night at CDH.
This site was recommended on GMA this morning, they rent text books and its a whole lot less than purchasing! http://www.chegg.com/
