Before I decides to enroll community college (either Wake Tech or JCCC), I researched to see what's the schedule like so it wouldn't conflict with my current job. I was so disappointed to found out that most medical related majors only offer daytime classes. Nothing after 5pm. Why???? I'm sure there are people, like me, who still have a job during the day and want to go back to school at night. I cannot afford to quit my job and go to school during the day for two years. The major I'm particularly interested in medical sonography, CT/MRI, or radiography. Any suggestions?

    Obviously not enough demand.

there is actually too much demand and not enough educators.

Kaci, for this particular majors, classroom and lab are required for hand-on experience. Online class would be awesome, but how do we learn to operate the machine?

Except for the small fact it takes funding and those like yourself who seem to oppose any increases in the sources of funding.

JOHNSTON COUNTY — State budget cuts will likely hurt high school students looking for a leg up and people looking to become truckers.

The state budget, which cleared the General Assembly last week, takes at least $1.2 million from Johnston Community College. Through the Huskins program, JCC has offered college-credit courses to local high school students. But that program is losing $1 million this year, or almost all of its funding. “That will pretty much eliminate the program,” said Traci Ashley, JCC’s media-relations and public-information officer.

Huskins has served about 800 to 1,000 students a year, she said. The students are able to graduate high school with college credit for classes like psychology, public speaking and sociology.

I know with the nursing program at JCC every other year (the odd years) they offer it during the night. It is a small program and even harder to get in than the regular nursing program. However, clinical are on the weekends during the day so you have to factor in that you won't be with your family many nights during the week AND on weekends days pretty much for 2 years.

There are a TONS of classes you can take online prior to entering into the program to prepare for the 2 year stretch, to make it more plausible to possibly cut back work.

Just one example, you have to get your CNA license in order to be enrolled in most medical programs at JCC and Wake. You could work PT as a CNA to prepare for the medical field and many medical employers work with students around their schedules in hopes of snagging them once they graduate.

Don't dash your hopes just because of a speed bump.

Its is not the fault of the school! The reason there is a long wait list for nursing school and programs like radiology is that educators make FAR less teaching than they do working in a hospital or private setting. Most of my instructors worked on weekends to supplement their income. You really have to enjoy teaching for the pay cut.

Hey Wulfpack...how about not commenting on something you know nothing about..i guess its too much for you not to comment on every thread on this forum...

Yea....I'm sure schools just blindly offer subjects, within their budgets, without monitoring the demand.

Another idiotic post shorty. Well done.
