A message from my friend Valarie Jean Bailey, a local fiber artist: Sunday is the Open House for the new Johnston Medical Center - Clayton!!! Free Stuff!! Health & Safety Fair!! Bring the Kids!! Live Performances by the Embers & The Wells Family. Seven Johnston Co artists were commissioned to make beautiful art for the building, present company included. Come on out and see my quilt, "Happy starts with ha!", I'll be there grin'n & sweat'n!!
But but but......Wayne said we have a hospital shortage!!!!!!! BLAME BUSH!!!!!! Weez gon die!!!!!!!!!! Save us OBAMA!!!
If I'm lucky the music and celebration won't cut into my Sunday too bad. It's gonna be hard enough to deal with the helipad and soon to be firestation that is in my backyard. Hope everyone has fun on Sunday.
Are there going to be doctors to meet? Okay, that doesn't sound right.--LOL. Will they a list that they give out stating who's going to be working there and their specialty? We are looking for some new docs and specialists for some of our kids as to not to have to drive to Durham/ Raleigh/ Chapel Hill. Now, some I will continue to go no matter what. But, it would be nice to have a few of them closer to home. We plan on going w/ the younger kids. Older kids are not into that type of stuff anymore. Should be fun I think. Stephanie--mom to 7
I am sooo excited to have an ER so close by. I guess that is a weird thing to be excited about but with three boys I get tired of that 30 minute drive to Raleigh with a bleeding child!! I have been really looking forward tot he opening. I keep telling everyone that I am so excited to have an ER only 2 miles away!! (Of course I hope we never need it but in my 9 years of parenting we have already racked up 31 staples, 16 stitches, 2 durabonds, 2 concussions, a fractured skull and a staph infection from a bug bite)
There will be something for everyone. The entire parking lot will be taken up with booths and vendors. I work in the ED and we will be doing a teddy bear clinic. Bring your sick and injured stuffed animals and we will try and fix them up for you. Also many of the doctors that will be located in the new professional office building will be there to meet the public. I have the list of all vendors that will be there if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing everyone Sunday! Karen
Good question Robbie!! I think we may go as well, a friend of ours works there, and actually gave us the tour this week. I know a lot of people frown on Johnston Health, but she used to work at Wake Med, and said a lot of doctors and nurses (and I think management) moved over here from Wake, which is definitely good news! They're trying to improve their reputation, I think that's a good place to start. I do know there will be inpatient-type surgeries there, and the big building is for all the doctors (the one to the right as you're looking at it). I know what you mean about needing an ER close by, I have 3 boys as well!!!
We went for about an hour. Traffic is so backed up both ways. If you can, avoid Hwy 42 btw Amelia Church and I would say Cleveland. Anyway, toured the hospital and it is so nice! Everybody was so friendly!
Another reason to be glad I visit the 4042.com site. I wouldn't have know about this event if it hadn't been for you guys. The kids I took had a blast!!! One baby doll and 2 stuffed animals were seen in the ER. The hospital staff were all wonderful. The kids had a blast visiting the different booths, watching the helicopter land, listening to the band & playing on all the blowup toys. We were there from 2 until after 6 and the kids would have loved to stay longer. Thanks for letting me know about this event.
