I have a 5 month old lab that needs a good home. He is potty trained and knows simple commands. I would love to keep him but I just had a baby and it is too much on me and he deserves attention that I currently can't give him. I will give everything that I have for him just as long as he is taken care of. I'm afraid that if he doesn't find a good home he might have to go to the SPCA but I really want to prevent that. E-mail me if interested

Chick, obviously you were pregnant BEFORE you got the dog! Does ANYONE think???? :banghead::banghead::banghead:

    agree

If people can raise 5 kids, you can raise a dog and a child. Take care of it.

And I take offence to people saying "Or I might have to take it to the SPCA". Shelters are not as bad as people make them out to be... sigh.

(I and plenty others work our butts off to save all the animals society carelessly breeds...WE are not the bad guys!)

Turn him over to a RESCUE group, such as Second Change Pet Adoption or there are many others. They will screen the people and make them sign agreements as far as there care goes.. They definately will not distroy a animal, you can be sure of that and they will find a good home.. I WOULD TRUST THEM!!!! GOOD LUCK:arrow::arrow::arrow::arrow::arrow:

We have no kids, but I would never give up our pets if we did have kids, we consider them part of our "family". When we adopted them, we decided to take on a responsibility for them for the rest of their life, sadly not everyone feels this way. On a side note 2 of our animals have been with us for 14 yrs, they are starting to get up there in age, and it will break our hearts the day we have to put them to sleep.

You can't fix stupid. I just hope this isn't one of the lab puppies my next door neighbors sold. They did their best to make sure they were going to good, permanent homes but sometimes you just never know!

That woman would hate my house then; we have five kids, our two dogs, and three foster dogs, two of which are in a unhealthy state requiring 4 different meds to be given to them daily and another every 2 weeks!

I think you should work with a rescue group and act as a foster until another home can be found (either permanent or another foster). Once you're working with them, they can put the dog on their website, petfinder, etc. Plus you can take the pup to adoption events and such.

I know it's not a quick fix, but you'll have the piece of mind knowing he got to a good home.

That person could be missing out. I had a lab mix about that age when I had my DD #1 and no stranger ever got near "her" baby.

hey people, you do not know their situation, do not be so quick to judge. As everyone knows i love all my animals but if it came down to choose between my child or a pet, guess who would win. If this is her first child, maybe she had no idea what it entailed and became totally overwhelmed with taking care of both a puppy and a baby, just saying.

I get what you are saying, but I see this so often on here and elsewhere. I just feel bad for the poor DOG that didn't do anything to deserve what is going to happen to him. :? I'm just in a bad spot with sorry pet owners right now I have a tendancy to believe the worst about folks. I would have cut her more slack except for the "threat" of taking the dog to the SPCA.

i know where you are coming from but i just remember when i had my first son, i had never in my life been allergic to any animal so when i was about 5 months preg, i of course got a kitten to start our new home together with and loved that kitty, she used to watch TV with me sitting on my big belly, but as soon as DS1 was born, all of a sudden i couldn't breath anymore, nose and eyes running nonstop and after about 6 months i finally went to the Doc and he said i had developed an allergy to cats during my pregnancy:cry: i seriously hated having to find a new home for my kitty but what choice did i have, it is very hard to breast feed and raise a baby when you cannot breath, so i guess i just try to see both sides these days. Dang, i am getting super sentimental these days the closer it comes to losing my last son, ain't it:lol:

Truly, I do understand!! Never had allergies, but my sheltie literally about drove me crazy after my son was born. I tried for years to make it work, and couldn't. Until she got agressive with him and the decison was made for me. I don't wish that on anyone! But to give up the dog just because it's too much work right now? Not so much. :?

fair enough, gotta agree... as long as they took the time and effort to find a good stable home.

I agree. If it is a real danger to the child the dog needs to be adopted out. Otherwise, she needs to step up to her responsibilities.
