I know what my wife would do. She'd buy/sell horses. She knows quite a bit about them and is well experienced in handling them.
antique photos i started my own business. what i've learned (and been told by others): - you will have a headached from the first day till the day you sell it for a loss - it will cost 2-3 times more in expenses to operate than you expect - it will not work out as you expect BUT - you will experience the joy of ownership/controlling your destiny - you will learn more in the first year than you would in 4 years of business school I would start one of those antique photo stores where they dress you up as a cowboy or gambler and take your pic in black and white. I'd probably add some world war II and 60's hippie stuff props too.
A Life Is Good store somewhere near Cracker Barrell. Buy Chops and turn it back in to a Michaels. Recording studio. A members only restaurant. A martial arts studio.
I would start a car company, get $50 billion from the Gov't, then declare bancruptcy. What a far fetched crazy idea that is.
dreaming is free Now I remember why I moved to this area so many years ago. People here are varied, real and hilarious. That being said, I like the tutoring idea. Would help a lot of families keep their little ones from falling behind in school. Let me know if you want to get this off the ground. I tutored algebra, history and English about a million years ago. Could this service get started without a physical location...? We could use a good coffee shop. Not a chain. Something with a place to lounge, hear some music, connect to wi-fi, grab a quick bite to eat.... As mentioned many times before on this forum, a book store would be nice. How about a "splash-ground"? Is that what the playgrounds with fountains are called? Ideally, something the county would build and a private party would be paid to maintain.... Of course, in this economy, none of these things will get off the ground anytime soon, but dreaming is free, right? -graystone
Well, we don't have a lot of money, but now that we're both unemployed, we do have a lot of time! We're using that time to start our dream business Lucky Paws. It's doggy daycare and boarding (cat boarding too). We will also do some rescue and adoptions through our non-profit division.
I have been saying for years that this place needs a "Mom & Pop, meat and three vegetables, with a roll and a big glass of sweet tea for $6" type resturant. They'd make a killing...........
I would love to open a small restaurant with my sister that had a very homey atmosphere. That would be awesome. We both love to cook for people and she's already a certified chef.
You might not have ever eaten there (or even heard of it) but there was a small chain of restaurants (one in Myrtle Beach) called Po Folks. We ate breakfast there one morning and it was great. However, the atmosphere was very downhome country. We drank our orange juice from mason jars and the tableclothes were checkered red. It felt like a country kitchen you'd find on a big farm somewhere. Sadly, they went out of business. Not sure why, but I contribute it likely to two causes: oversaturated restaurant selections in MBSC and probably didn't fit in well with the beachgoers.
I would open the used bookstore with Rocky. And Jester, I have eaten at plenty of Po Folks as a kid. It was a family favorite when traveling, along with Bob Evans.
