Right - and the Kangaroo and Hess (I think) on 70 near Guy Rd are usually less expensive than Sandhu's.
yes, you are right on that one, but I don't get over that way much. I am more toward the Lowe's food.
I paid 2.41 there the other day. I see the Hess on 42 by Guy Rd is now 2.45, that means kangaroo will be even cheaper. I'll probably top off my tank today.
What I can't figure out is why the gas in Burlington is cheaper than most anywhere in NC. According to a gas price website I follow, the lowest price for unleaded in NC is 2.22 a gallon. In the triangle area, the least is 2.39. The highest price in Raleigh is 2.81 for unleaded (who in the world would gas up here?)
Actually, the last time I was through that area the prices between Greensboro and Durham were a lot more consistent unlike previous times. The last time I went through Wytheville VA, which was usually cheaper than any where here was the same price as the Mebane area. At that time the Mebane area was slightly lower than the other parts between Greensboro and Durham.
Yahooo for the Longer Hours & I'm fine w/ Being OPEN on SUNDAY's too. I know it's a CHANGE but I think Mr. Sandu & his family will do a great job with "The Store". OLD Clevenlanders remember Worth Matthew's Store & Grill, Cor. Higgins Store and Coat's Store & Station even Allen's store - things do change over time. I like to call some of it PROGRESS.
Correct. The store my mother has worked at since 1968 when we moved back to NC from VA (and she still won't retire!!!) does not set the prices. Their prices are set by the company they by the gas from.
I don't get to Clayton much, but when I have gone in that store the Sandhu's were always friendly and polite. Unfortunately, when they first opened up I stopped there to get gas and a truckload of 20-or-so year olds drove by and shouted "F you, Sandn*****!" Completely disgusting. I hope they'll get a warmer welcome here. And BTW, I say Congrats to the Wells' family. They worked hard all their lives and can now enjoy the fruits of their labor. Wyoming is a beautigul place!
I thought that if say the price of gas is say 2.00 from the oil company then the retailer can charge say 2.02 a gallon. As long as they are not price gouging, I thought they can charge what they want over the amount that the oil company tells them to raise the price. Years ago when I worked at a gas station for 10 years, that is how is worked. Maybe things have changed from 30 years ago. AFter all the gas station has to make a profit, and a lot of the price per gallon is taxes and money to the oil company.
That is exactly the case. So I guess I am not clear on what you were complaining about with gas being a bit higher at the Emporium. It's a convenience store, you pay a premium for the convenience of getting your gas there rather than farther up the road. I highly doubt they are paying what the BP's and Kangaroo's of the world are for their gas. Like I said, I am just not sure what your beef is with their prices. It was/is privately owned, so those folks have to make a profit but it won't necessarily be off volumne.
Beef? Who was complaining? I Love that place or I wouldn't have started the thread in the first place. Clarify please! LOL........
I've been in there lots and no ones ever asked me that or given me that kind of an attitude. I hope they stay with the fresh butcher shop, i love their ribeye steaks!
I hope between the new Walmart and the new Cleveland Emporium, they can get some cheaper gas prices around here. I will miss David, Marlo and the kids, they were good folks, but I wish them well in their new venture. I will also miss seeing Mr. DR at the Emporium, he is a really nice man & I enjoyed chatting with him. I hear from a reliable source that the new owners plan to keep the meat dept going as usual. I'll have to stop in next week and pick up some steaks and meet the new owners. I have heard that they are very nice people and that they live here in the Cleveland School area.
