Real Estate Agents have such a dangerous job. Many of them take strangers out to see homes on a regular basis. I know there are a few agents who frequent this site ... please be careful. http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/5952316/
That is such a sad story! I worked in real estate about 10-12 years ago, both on-site in Raleigh and in general brokerage here in Clayton. Both have their risks. While on-site, I had a panic button that I carried while showing the model homes. It was linked to RPD and to our security onsite. When I came back to JOCO and was out in the county showing homes, I always made sure the customer met me at the office first to get some personal information and I told my broker when to expect me back and where I was going. Neither of these precautions would have stopped this person, most likely. I feel for the agent. I hope she will be okay in time. As for him, I wish I could believe he would be put away for life, but I am afraid that would not be realistic. :x
That's terrible. It sounds as if he wanted to get caught because he let the woman go and he left accurate info on a form. I hope the judge throws the book at him.
 Sadly it happens and is something we (not active at the moment) are trained about. I have asked other agents to go with me when showing houses to strangers. Most times, I would ask people to meet me at the office first before ever being alone with them, it's just not safe. I am so sad that happened to her.
you guys are too sweet! It was definintely a reminder to stay safe! I usually trust my instincts and try not to put myself in bad situations. ...And if that doesnt work I have "hand to hand" combat training and I carry a tazer
I recently got a tazer as a gift and kinda looked cross-eyed at the person that gave it to me. But I tell you, the more I think about it, the better I like it and I have been carrying it. It's got a little pin that attaches to the wrist strap so if someone takes it away from you, it won't work.
I was thinking about MamaApe too...but I definitely think she's trained enough to handle *most* circumstances! Be careful out there! (and WHEN are we going to the movies????)
