I just wondering if anyone knows of a preschool in Johnston County or possibly Southern Wake County that has a pre-Kindergarten or a class for 5 year olds? My daughter will turn 5 next August, and since she'll be so young, I've decided to let her wait one more year before she goes to Kindergarten. Her preschool only enrolls up to 4 years old as do most preschools in the area. I was just curious if anyone knew of anywhere besides a real expensive place like The Goddard School (I already looked into that - way overpriced). Thanks! By the way, I know she'll be old enough to go to Kindergarten; it's just a personal decision my husband and I made to wait one more year.
I dont know how far you are from Garner, but you may want to look into Lord of Life or Aversboro Baptist church. I heard they both have a 'transition' class or a Pre-K class. I have not looked myself, but that is word on the street! (Due to birthdays and cut off date changes etc... my first child started kindergarten at 4 and my youngest wont start until he is a few months shy of 6, I am interested to see the difference!)
Not sure if this is too far for u but I have 2 friends that have their kids in open arms (I think that's the name) at the Lutheran Church on hwy 42 near the white oak intersection. Neither of them are Lutheran but they love the preschool.
Ha ha! No, FBC only goes up to 4 years old too (according to their website). My daughter goes to JMC preschool right now.
We loved St. Mary's Child Development Center at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Garner. (You don't have to be Catholic) Their number is 772-5524. 1008 Vandora Springs Rd. I think they have 5 year olds. Good luck!
FBC=First Baptist Church in Garner? If so, yes I think they will take 5 yo's. If not, I'm screwed because that's where all my kids have gone, been going there 7 years now, and my youngest will be 5 next September and will also be going there. I would definitely call Charnell up there and ask. I know my son will be going there next year, we've already talked about it. I think with the new age cut-off, they'll have to change their policies if that's what these places are currently saying (they don't take 5 yo's)
I'll have to call Charnell because the website lists classes for ones, two, threes and fours. There was no mention of 5 year old classes. That would be awesome if they do!!
They do for 4 year olds. I'm not crazy about it because they might as well be in Kindergarten. My friend's son was in it last year. It was 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. I'm just looking for a half day - about 4 hours a day.
My daughter went there last year and loved it, I was very happy with the program as well. I doubt if they would have issue with you doing an early release since the latter part of the day is lunch, rest, snack, and playtime. I don't see why you couldn't pick up after lunch. Anyway, it's worth looking into.
They would go in the 4 yo class. My daughter was 5 and in the 4yr old class because of how her birthday fell. She didn't turn 5 until after the cut off date, missing it by a month.
