Anybody know someone with one of these they want to unload on the cheap? Where's the best place to get one? My kid just informed me that she needs one for school by early next week. Cain't wait to see how long it takes before she's playin' like Charlie Daniels! Redneck bloodlines run deep! :nopity:
We rented from Tarheel Music also. They had wonderful customer service & the prices weren't outrageous.
Yeah, I called 'em yesterday and they said the line was out the door with folks wanting kids violins. Reckon it's fiddle season for rugrats? Still waiting for somebody to call back. I'll ride by this weekend.
Hey Rich - this is from experience. Don't refer to it as a fiddle when you around the teacher. They tend to be more of the 'violin' type. I agree with renting unless you can find a used one real cheap. And get ready to hear 'Three Blind Mice' over and over and over......
Dang, I was kinda hopin' she'd break out some 'Corn Husk 'N Skunk Musk' for the family come Christmas time!
I may have a 1/2 size at home. I'll have to check to see if that is the exact size. I also have one smaller and a full size that we are no longer using. The smallest one needs a screw, but the other two are in great condition. I'll let you know. J
Unfortunately, she will not be playing like Charlie Daniels if she is playing a violin. He plays a fiddle. There is a difference. Same instrument, but they are set up differently. The bridge is flatter on the fiddle which allows you to "bow" two adjacent strings at the same time. That's how you get that "Scottish drone" sound in bluegrass. I wish her luck. Both violin and fiddle are beautiful sounds.
I'm so slack...actually just VERY busy! My niece got rid of her half size and now had 2 full size violins. Sorry! I tried!
