So...my son's 9th birthday is Monday. In our house the rule is (within REAL reason here!) you get to pick the meal that is cooked or ordered for dinner. Yeah, there is a cake and a few gifts, but we set the event guidelines years ago and it just works...four boys...only rule is it HAS to be REAL food...not twinkies and marshmellows (I don't like that rule, either!). Anyway, when we asked the soon to be 9 yr old what he wanted to have for his dinner he says he doesn't know...then he says, "should it be my favorite food?" We replied yes...then he nails us with LOBSTER! It "actually" is his favorite food. Obviously we are NOT feeding the love of it often, usually only a few times a year. Too many of us to do that one!!! I remember a few vacations ago we went to a place called "The Crab House?" in FL. They had menu items and also a raw bar if you wanted. I tried to see if one was near here, but I'm having no luck. Does anyone know of one or can suggest a restaurant for us? Also...this event ended up getting a double whammy...we all were sick here in our home when my husband's parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary...so we are dragging them along (silently) and singing to them, too! Thanks to anyone that can help me out!!!!! Tiffany
Crystal Palace Buffet at 4011 Capital Blvd, (New Hope and Capital) has AYCE crablegs and Chinese foods. Pretty good food too.
I don't think they have lobster though. They do have great crab legs if you like that sort of thing. :ack: I don't do seafood, but remember hearing the commercial a lot for Joe's Crabshack in Durham (?) And then of course there are a couple Red Lobsters around....
http://www.visitraleigh.com/visitors/listing.details.php?partner=16264&name=Backfins+Crab+House This is a link to a Seafood Restaurant my husband and I will be taking my sister and her husband to next month. We've been looking for something like it for quite a while. They supposed to have different types of crabs and got a all you can eat special.
Shucker's Oyster Bar...they have Lobster tails.....www.shuckersoysterbar.com Also 42nd Street Oyster Bar in Downtown Raleigh is excellend...I have been there several times. Love it!!!
Get him a "pet" lobster. Take him to the store and let him pick out a runt. Set up a salt-water tank and he can feed it all year and fatten it up and eat it for his next birthday.
42nd Street is my all-time favorite restaurant (for steak though!) but didn't mention it due to the price. Sounds like she'll have a lot of people with her! There's also supposed to be a place opening up over by White Oak theater, not sure if it has yet though.
why does that not shock me. I saw the drummer last night. It was my night to be Cinderella.
Went by today, not even close to being open....I give at least a month or more. Ended up at Knightdale Seafood at the Oyster Bar. Nothing like a peck of raw ones for a Friday lunch!!!! 8)
Call ahead and reserve jumbo crabs. A little more expensive but worth the money. We loved this restaurant. Reminded us of some Maryland Crab houses.
Thanks for the tip!! Can't wait to check it out!!! We used to go to one like it at the Beach in NC as well as to the All you can eat Seafood Buffets in Virgina Beach
