I need a local locksmith or keymaker. Its unlikely that lowes will be able to help much since they've gone over to such specialized equipment capable of cutting only the keys they sell. I ordered a key for my car that has the alarm controls and such built into it. I've checked all the data, and they'll work together just fine. I know the procedure for syncing it with my car. All i need is somebody who can cut the key blank i have. I'm not having much luck there. I gave Ace in apex a shot, and they looked at my key like it was a demon for 5 minutes before telling me that they couldn't cut it. If anybody could give a recommendation, that'd be awesome. Thanks.
Yeah, but I wonder how many places you can call/go to until you have both wasted the time and/or gas to make the dealer the best deal.
Do dealers actually have key cutting equipment? For some reason i'd always just assumed that they could only order pre-cut keys. I guess i'll make a call to Capital Mazda tomorrow morning and find out.
Honestly, it was an assumption that you could get one from the dealer. I would love to know for sure; since you are going to make the call.
The older key they cut for sure, the newer ones I would imagine are the same. The key code indicated the depth of each cut and the location of that cut. They enter the code and cut the key from a blank rather than making a copy of the cuts like the hardware store, so they may need your code.
