I personally thought they would not work for an airport in that 80% of the individuals in an airport are either lugging a piece of carry on luggage and/or briefcase and I can just picture some idiot trying one of these on an escalator, which are pretty predominate in airports.

I agree with your original position that this is just another excuse for people to remain inactive.
