I have been trying to deal with Expedia to get a refund for an unused hotel nite. Not one of their "customer service" people speaks English without an accent...ergo I must believe they are located overseas. Do these damned stupid companies not realize that for the most part Americans hate that? We want to speak to Americans who speak English. I don't care if you are Juan or Sun Yi as long as your are HERE and speak English! This is a damned nightmare!
:lol: I bet they don't like your American accent either. :jester: Just kidding - I know watcha mean.
They get very defensive if you ask them to repeat or tell them you can't understand them. They take it as a insult.. It is entirely wrong even the government uses them. :banghead: What can I say, except they work for low wages and it keeps their overhead down at the expense of customer service, which is Nil these days...
I'm with you on this one. I won't get on my soapbox cause I'm sure no one wants to hear it but it makes me ill too. There's no such thing as good customer service these days. Well, there is but it's few and far between.
as long as people continue to use these services and they keep making money, they probably don't really care what you think of the accents of the people answering the phones. If you have a problem, don't use the service. It's just that simple.
I agree with, "If you have a problem, don't use the service." But it is not that simple. If all the competitors with that service do the same thing, where do you go for that service? That's why the Corp's providing the service don't give a crap if you threaten to go elsewhere for the service. The marketing strategy is to let you go through the gambit of providers. One leaves my service and goes to you. One leaves your service and comes to me. It's practical match marketing collusion. The customers eventually settle into one provider and complacently accept the lousy service. Add a term contract to the service and you have a locked income no matter how poorly you treat the customer. Prime examples are TV and Cell Phones. In a company I worked for, the marketing director gave a presentation to all of the sales department. A question was raised over complaints of poor service. His response was, "We match service quality. The game for the competitors is, "Eeeeny Meannny Minnney Moe, I hope I'm last in where they go!"" And people wonder why there's a surge to putting limits on the free market?????????
What service does expedia and others offer? They book flights, hotel rooms, etc. I have found it to be less of a hastle, and cheaper in most cases, to just call the airline, hotel, etc. and book on my own. So I guess for me, it is just that simple.
:iagree: The only time I use someone like Expedia (actually I use Orbits) is if I am booking air on multiple carriers, otherwise all are booked with the hotel, car, or airline direct. Actually the OP's original problem was one that I had wtih Expedia (they actually purchase the room and you pay them) and as a result of not being able to get recipts from the hotel I stopped using their service.
:iagree: At least they are speaking English.....may not be "perfect" English, but at least they are speaking it!
Whew! Been dealing with a language barrier myself this morning. We got through it, but I hope I get what I need! LOL
