We are still trying to locate out Chihuahua named Comet. He is vibrant white with light brown/reddish patches with a black nose, eyes and mouth. Comet was last spotted on the parking lot of the Senior Center on Dairy Rd in Clayton right next to the Brittney Woods subdivision. Witnesses spotted a man and his young son walking Comet on a leash in the Brittney Woods subdivision. We believe this is the man who called my wife saying he had Comet but wanted to keep him for his son. My wife offered him the generous reward that we were willing to pay but the man refuse to return him saying his son had grown attached to him. We do have the Johnston County Sheriffs Dept in on this case but we are actively involved in trying to find Comet also. If there is anyone out there that has seen Comet please call us day or night. 443-254-2419 or 601-594-0183. Comet's picture is on Craigslist in the lost and found Thank you very much.
How bizarre. What a crazy man to refuse you your own dog. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
I just don't understand how somebody could find a lost dog and then tell the owner he's not giving it back because his son has become attached to it. What's he teaching the kid, for heaven's sake? I don't know what the criminal penalty is for that, but he should get the max!
I wonder if he was just doing it for 'kicks'? Sick man and he should be punished for it, but I cant believe he is telling the truth.
have you notified vets in the area? sooner or later he will need to be seen. is he microchipped? maybe they can scan all dogs fitting his discription. maybe have people go door to door in neighborhoods nearby, someone knows they have them and if they are like that, someone will rat on them. i hope you find him,but why isnt the people that lost him looking? i feel for you, i would die if i lost my siamen!
We have done everything possible to find Comet. Thanks KdsGrandma for posting his pics. On Dairy Rd at the Senior Center we have several witnesses who saw Comet 4 days in a row. A family from the Pizzaria tried to lure Comet with a piece of cheese but he wouldn't come to them. They didn't want to chase after him afraid he would run from them onto Dairy Rd and get hit. A lady in the Brittney Woods subdivision told us when we were out there going from door to door passing out flyers of the man walking Comet with a young son and she didn't know my wife had gotten a call from a man wanting to keep Comet for his son and not return him . Matter of fact when my wife offered the $1,000.00 cash reward he told her money wasn't the issue, his son's attachment to Comet was the issue. He called back a second time offering us money for Comet. This has been a nightmare
I've been following this Comet ordeal --- poor dog Wondering ... with as long as it has been on going, and the statement of "calls from man", why hasn't the law enforcement or animal control interevened by now by approaching house of said man? Ph# can be traced to get address if that is unknown instead of letting this drag so long. At least that way it'd be known fact if man has Comet OR if he's just playing sick joke on Comet's family. Seems like it could be over with by now & I'd think AC could take dog from person & even "hold" dog until legalities were over if that's what it came down to.
So do you have his number (From when he called?) can you get his address? Would the police visit him based on the eye witness and the calls?? Shoot I will go visit him if you would like.
Maybe the phone# is blocked or comes up private and they're not able to get the number? But maybe the phone co could, w/ time and date? Mean people suck! Can't believe someone would do that....I hope the dog bites his son....
There are things about the case that I can not post. Who ever has Comet could read this forum. We are hoping that the person that has Comet will come forward, either drop him off at a shelter or call. Even if it is the one who took him posing as someone who just found Comet we won't ask questions. We just want him back. After Comet is found I can release more info. Just keep your eyes open and whisper a prayer for us that we will find him.
Hopefully Comet is Microchiped. I know one time while I was at the vets office with Laila, a woman came in with a stray she had found. She was hoping to get the cat its shots and hopefully keep that cat. They went and took out the scanner and found the chip and were able to identify the rightful owner of the cat. So Hopefully when Comet goes to the vet they will take out the scanner and check for the chip.
I keep thinking about little Comet. I used have a sweet chihuahua (not the one I mentioned in an earlier post), and I just can't imagine going through what you are. It makes me so sad.
By the way, I have a friend that lives in Brittney Woods. I sent her a picture of Comet and filled her in on what you've told us so far. I haven't heard back from her yet, but I'll let you know if she knows anything.
Not to change the subject too much, but...how much does it cost to microchip your pet around these parts?
I am going to have to double check the date on this but I had put in my pda that over at lake benson on 10/02/2009 a local vet will do the rabies shot for 5.00 cash and the microchip for 10.00 cash
It totally amazes me that an adult would actually believe "finders keepers". How heartless of him and a shameful example to set for his son. I'm certain that his son would become just as easily attached to a new dog very quickly should he do the right thing and return Comet. Kids are the most resistant to change but the quickest to adapt. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your wife and I hope Comet is brought home soon!
