my son has to see an orthodontist...do not need one that charges a lot for the fluff in the waiting room. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
We like Dr. Vinson on HWY42 in Clayton. Not sure how he stacks up as far as pricing, but they offer 0% financing, which helps when you have 2 in braces! All the staff is nice too, which means ALOT to me! Good luck!
:iagree: I 2nd Dr. Vinson. Just finished up my treatment with Invisalign. He has a really laid back manner and I LOVE his staff people. As far as pricing, he was right in line with the other 2 orthos I did consults with. http://www.vinsonorthodontics.com/
I recommend Dr. Mary Walton, although she is in Cary it is WORTH the drive! Her & her staff are WONDERFUL!! www.TriangleBraces.com 919-249-4900
My son was referred to the ortho as well--I made a consultation appt with Dr. Vinson, Dr. Macon and Dr. Devlin They were all free consults and I wanted to have a choice--and to make sure all three thought he needed the same care. By the end of the month I shoul dhave a verdict and will share it on the forum-- I have already notices that Dr. Macon is $75 more for the records fee. I really don't care if they have DSs in the waiting room--I would rather them concentrate on good ortho care and charge me less and we can buy our own DS I think it is strange to start ortho before all of the baby teeth are gone--but like I said it is a free consult so I will see what they have to say
Ask the dentist if your child might qualify at UNC-CH's school of orthodontics. Every student is already a dentist, just getting the specialty degree in ortho, and it's overseen by an ortho professor. Our son needs a lot of work done (he's a good "teaching case"), and the total cost is $3600 when other orthodontists quoted 7000-10000 (most closer to the upper amount)...like I said, he needs a lot done. They only take unusual or cases needing a lot of work. He has one resident who works with him and one professor, so we've gotten to know them well. All appointments are on the same day of the week and about the same time. We figured the cost of gas still made this much more affordable. Oh, and sometimes it starts before all the baby teeth are out to try and avoid the problems getting worse. Impacted molars hurt a lot! If a permanent tooth is sideways because of crowding, moving the baby teeth around can hopefully give room to have the tooth straighten up inside the gums. (This avoids surgery) If there's a problem with the jaw, it can be worked on and hopefully improve the position of the teeth as they come in. (We've learned a lot in CH!)
I love Dr. Devlin in Clayton, we've been going since June of this year. The staff is outstanding and my kids like him alot.
Wake Orthodontics We switched to Wake Orthodontics and saved a lot of money. We recommend Dr. McCutchen and use the White Oak office. Their phone # in Garner is 779-7598.
My daughter goes to Wake Orthodontics they are located across from the movie theater at White Oak, the entire staff are wonderful. The price of her braces were 3600.00 and we were allowed to make payments for two years and this covers the braces, visits, and retainers and any other visits (if a bracket comes loose or a wire breaks etc) If she becomes uncomfortable due to a problem we are allowed to come in that day to get the issue resolved. She gets her braces off in December then her retainers will be applied and I would recommend them to anyone. Good luck with your search
I have taken my son to Dr. Macon (they charged me $25) for a consult and plan to go to Dr. Vinson soon just for a 2nd opinion and they I will decided between the two. I went to Dr. Devlin myself and the treatment itself was fine but I wouldn't recommend them for children or take my child there. Just my opinion of his "bedside" manner.
odd...his chairside manner is awesome with my boys.....he explains everything and answers all their questions, and mine.
I can give you a name of a good orthodontist, however its probably too far out of the way. He's in Goldsboro. Dr. Perrine was just becoming a partner with Dr. Silvers on Wayne Memorial Drive when I was a patient. Dr. Silvers has since retired. Still a very good outfit, though. They cater to both kids and adults and do not add 'fluff.' My son will likely need braces and I'd still consider carrying him there for adjustments. The problem is the "emergencies" that require after hours visits or unscheduled repairs when something breaks.
Oh, wow! That's where I got my braces too! Loved them! I saw Perrine back then (84-85). I got my braces off early due to an auto accident...most of the left side braces were knocked off in the accident...but that is why I have those teeth today! I didn't know they were still around. That was 25 years ago! Great orthodontist!
Yep, they are still there and it still looks exactly like it did back then. I believe even one or two of the assistants were still there that I recognized. I was there for a minor dental fitment that required an orthodontist. Actually, firefly...that was about the same time I was going there. I had mine put on in '83 and didn't get them off until about '85 or '86. Then, I did a upper and lower retainer for awhile.
While there could be a good chance we might have had appointments near about the same time a time or two, I went to school in southern Wayne county and I didn't know anybody from Kenly then. Dr. Silvers and Dr. Perrine were very popular so its no wonder they drew patients from different directions out from Goldsboro.
One of my high school teachers moved to Smithfield some years ago and I saw her with her teenage kids at Dr. Perrine's office while I was there that last time. Apparently they have some patients from Johnston. Of course, driving from 40/42 area, Clayton or Garner may be perceived to be a bit too far for most. It might would be interesting to price braces through their office though to compare with prices up around here. We're not quite ready for braces just yet, we have no real need for quotes.
