OK, so I still can't get my kids their flu shots, their Dr's office is only giving the limited supply to kids up to 36 mos. and yet Wake County is having free clinics at the schools? I'm I missing something here?:ack:

I got my flu shot at the Walgreens on 42 and when I was there I heard a lady go up and try to get them for her kids and they said they weren't giving shots for kids under 18. My kids got them at the peds office on Sunday at the flu clinic, obviously just in time because now the peds website is saying they are only giving flu shots up to 35 months due to a shortage. Unbelievable!!! I know parents with kids who don't have the flu shot yet are extremely frustrated!!!

I'm not sure when you were there but I got my flu shot at Walgreens yesterday. I've got two daughters, one of which is 17 who still needs hers. I just called Walgreens and they said that as of Oct. 9th the Pharmacy Board changed its policy and they will give flu shots to anyone 14 and up.

Bummer, I did not know that.

As for the shortage, I find this alarming. What happens if we have a real dilemma with a need for vaccines? We can't even produce flu shots to meet simple demand?

My Mom got her flu shot Friday and by Sunday she was sick. Went to the Dr yesterday and had to be put on antibiotics....

I've never had a flu shot, nor have my kids. Maybe we're just lucky (knock on wood), but I think we'll just stick to the old fashioned way of washing our hands, being careful, and taking our vitamins.....

It is a bummer.....not to mention ridiculous the way this is being handled, thanks to the good ol' media, per usual.

Good News, I just found out the clinic being held at work tomorrow will do my kids too! so there.... :hurray:

    This......

The sickest I have EVER been was a few days after I got my first and last flu shot. I rarely get sick as it is and just wanted to get out of work for a few hours.

So, freaking out over this is ridiculous. Generations have somehow managed to survive without this miracle shot. You guys act like this is the black plague or something.

I've never had a flu shot in my life. I'm not around many people at my part-time job. DH works from home. There has been all sorts of crud going around DS's school, but knock on wood, we haven't caught anything yet. I STILL don't know if we will get it this year.

My niece has H1N1 up in VA, she was pretty sick but seems to be on the mend. They shut down a local Catholic (not hers) school 2 weeks ago up there, there were 100 kids with it and counting.

First of all, it takes 2 weeks after receiving the flu shot for it to work. Secondly, nobody is acting like this is the black plague but we do watch the news and are trying to protect ourselves and our children.

Maybe you need to stop watching the news?!?!? The media is really doing a good job scaring people (and making sales for the companies that make these shots). My children have never had the flu shot. I've had one flu shot my entire life...and got sick from it. Certainly the flu is no fun BUT children already get SO many vaccines. I just don't see the shot as necessary for my family.

:lol::lol: I agree there is nothing much worse than being a browns fan. That honor belongs to my hubby, not me. He is the one who set up this 40/42 account. I really do think I need to change my screen name on here as I do detest the browns myself.

I'm sorry you got sick from the flu shot, but we never have. When you see perfectly healthy children dying from the flu and H1N1, I along with many others believe the flu shot is worth it.
