I want to start a part-time business for extra income and am considering a company such as Avon. Does anyone know first-hand the way this company works, are there selling minimums, do you have to order products ahead of time, how do the commissions work, etc.? Thanks for any info.
I'd personally choose Mary Kay. They have the best product (IMHO). I've been using MK products for YEARS and look pretty dern good if you ask me  If you'd like the name of the director or rep I use PM me
I like doing Avon. I had to have a business where I didn't have to have inventory on hand as I have no where to store it. I also needed something where I did not have to do 'parties'. I have 3 kids and my evenings and weekends are spent with them and my hubby. With Avon, you don't have to do either of these. I am not a high powered seller, yet Avon tends to sell itself. Handing people a book is usually enough to generate an order. Another thing, Avon only costs $10 to sign up (unless they have changed their sign up fee). And there is no kit to buy. I don't make a lot of money, but it is usually enough to pay my expenses and to purchase the things I 'just can't live without'. As with any other business, you get out of it what you put into it. If I had more time to solicit orders, I could make more money. Right now I'm happy paying my expenses.
avon sales? Did you ever decide to sign up and sell AVON? I am waiving the 10.00 sign up fee for this week only.... I am a unit leader with 22 ladies on my team. I live here in 40/42 area.... call me 919 796 8083 Kimberly Marin I am making 800 .00 part time....
Old thread Bringing up this old old thread, I am curious to hear what current reps think of selling Avon.
I just started my Avon business up again after being away for a couple of months. Sometimes it's hard to juggle a full time job and go out and sell. I don't make a whole lot but I at least make enough to pay for my own products. It's really annoying when you get stuck with large orders and have to pay out of your own pocket. :x
No need to do that when you can send it back for full credit. I loved selling it and I made good money doing it. My problem was that I would spend all I made ordering Avon for myself and DD. Avon is a very stable company and it's so easy to sell. My only negative issue with them is that they don't always credit you for things you return . . . I sent 2 huge boxes of stuff back when I decided to quit selling. To this day they are billing me for the most expensive stuff out of those 2 boxes claiming that they did not receive it. How could you receive part of the stuff in a box and not all of it? Just be careful and double and triple check your invoices. eta: NEVER take a check from someone you don't know very well. I had several bounced checks and had a hard time collecting on one of them.
I sold Avon for a few years p/t about 10 years ago and it was fun for a while but I spent too much on stuff for myself/family. I stopped selling when I went back to work full-time which was after I finished college. When I had to return items for whatever reason, I had to pay out of my pocket to mail them back to Avon. Also, I received a few damaged items (the items were just but in a box with little or no packing material) and that was a hassle. After I reported these issues I received a less than nice letter from the district person regarding too many returns. I have a friend who is currently selling for Mary Kay but I don't know alot about it. She seems to like it.
