What do you use to clean your shower?

I could go out and buy a number of different products, but I thought I might get some advice and save some money. I currently use Scrubbing Bubbles, but it never really seems to get the film completely off.

I have a normal shower in the third bathroom. Plastic stall with a curtain. It isn't filthy, but I just can seem to get all of the film off.


Any ideas?

I use Kaboom. Spray it on and then wait a bit. Sometimes I have to use a brush on the walls, but this works pretty well for me. If the shower curtain liner is cruddy, I wash that in the washer with detergent and bleach. Vent the bathroom, it's pretty strong stuff.

I could tell you my secret, but I only have two bathrooms so it wouldn't be helpful.

My shower is a walk-in with a door and I HATE it. I clean it at least twice a week and still looks disgusting. The mildew creeps under everything. I've used clorox 2, Kaboom, a woman, etc. Nothing gets it really white. If I had the money, I'd tear it out and have it all tile, no door.

 

If you find someone to tile it at a good price, let me know! I agree with ripping out the door and enclosure! I have been trying to get my husband to do it, but he isn't biting!! I am glad to know it isn't just my shower! I have nearly lost consciousness trying every chemical imaginable to get it clean!:banghead:

 

windex and a magic eraser works best. you can use car wax like turtle wax on certain fiberglass enclosures (check with manufacturer first and I wouldnt do the bottom.

 

Really??? Off to try that! I have some hard water stains that drive me bonkers.

 

I got tile and glass with no problems. The folks that installed the glass told us to use liquid soap instead of bar soap. I don't know if that matters, but the shower is clean. She said bar soap would be hard to clean.

 

Colorox clean-up they have a new scent so it's not as strong. Dollar tree magic eraser.

Step 1 - Get nekkid
Step 2 - Turn shower on to get it steamy and soaked a bit.
Step 3 - Sprinkle comet all in shower and on glass too.
Step 4 - Scrub scrub scrub... the shower of course.
Step 5 - Rinse rinse rinse... again, the shower.
Step 6 - Take a shower like normal. You just cleaned it. You don't want to smell like comet, do ya?!
Step 7 - Either dry the shower windows with a squeegee, towel dry, or let dry naturally.
Step 8 - clean windows with window cleaner.
Step 9 - admire your clean shower windows!

we got some stuff you just spray on after you finish your daily shower and it cleans as it slides down the walls and stuff.

 

I learned a little secret from my grand-mom long time ago, works.

Make sure the bathroom is clean really good, try anything from everyone's suggestion. You must have a clean bathroom to start with, that is the catch.

then here it is:
Every time after your shower, use your tower to dry the shower area (door, shower curtain, bathtub.....). This will keep the bathroom clean for a long time. It does take discipline, and you will not have to use chemical anymore for a long time, plus, it only takes few minutes, unless your bathroom shower area is really huge.

Not sure if this approach is best for anyone, but it works for me and my house hold...

We use Softscrub on the kids' bathroom shower. It tends to be a little more neglected :roll: than ours and this always seems to work.

 

Tip for cleaning the glass doors: use lemon oil furniture polish (liquid, not spray on). Gets the soap scum right off!

Once you get everything clean, the daily shower spray really does help keep it from getting dirty so quick. You can buy it or make your own: 1/4 cup Jet Dry rinse aid (any brand, not just Jet Dry) and 1 pt water in a spray bottle. I found a big bottle of Cascade rinse aid at WM for 2 bucks a few weeks ago that should keep me in spray for awhile!
