Girl Scouts?

I am thinking of signing Thing I up for Girl Scouts. Are GS just a coverup for cookie sales, or will she really get to do charity/volunteer work, archery and other sports skills, camp, etc?

 

yes she will!! I have several friends that have their dd's in and they love it!

I did all this in scouting. If you get a good leader and parents that are willing to help your daughter will have a wonderful time and lots of life learning experiences. I just hope they are more organized at the county/district level now than they were a few years ago.

 

I honestly believe that the Girl Scout experience all depends on how good your troop leader is. There are ones that pretty much do the bare minimum and the ones that go all out. Our next door neighbor is a troop leader and is in the latter category. She puts a ton of time into planning the activities, outings, badges, etc. And it really makes all the difference.

My daughter has a good leader, well there is really 4 parents that are leaders that way one is doing all the work..even though I'm not a leader, they are willing to let me do a badge if I want to..
