This is so scary and so close to home. I know the family. I think there are lots of incidents we don't hear about that happen in the area. I am just thankful she is safe. I think we all need to try to be more aware of our surroundings. You just never know.

LOCK YOUR DOORS! Prevention is key! I lock my car doors even if I just run in the store for a pack of smokes. You never know these days.

  5. This poor woman. I just read the article and I thought this could happen to me. There are so many times when I'm rushing around. One of my biggest fears, like in the movies, is someone hiding in the backseat. I don't even know if I would have been able to drive. I think I would've frozen up. I don't know, but she has been through a lot. A burglary and now this? I hope she will be okay.

I can't put my finger on it, but just am a bit skeptical of the story. No disrespect to anyone that knows her and obviously that is just my opinion.

That was my first thought when I heard it this morning. Hopefully we're wrong.

I don't know what to think, but I do know one thing. The media has a way of making something sound suspicious: WRAL says "Garner woman found, SAYS she was kidnapped". Why did they state it like that? Why not, "woman found after being kidnapped". They made it sound like it's more than likely not true...

Crime reports are online now for Wake, but Johnston is BEHIND! :?

This is way too close to home. My daughter lives there in a building that shares the same parking lot. I, too, was skeptical of the story. Did she leave her car unlocked? How did he get in? Unless the kidnapper knew her, how would he know which car to get in and when the car owner would even come out to the car. Some of it still doesn't make much sense to me but I suspect it's because there are many details yet to be released. Regardless of the circumstances, I'm glad the woman is okay.

I agree that verbiage is misleading, but I am friends with her daughter and this is a very true story. This is an upstanding woman. I know I have doubted stories before, but I knew something was going on from the first phone call I got yesterday. This family is reeling from this experience. The last thing they need are people doubting what they have gone through.

I mean no disrepect either and am not questioning her experience but I have a question - if she stopped for gas at 401 and Old Stage Road, why didn't she run when she got out of the car to pump the gas. If I read correctly, that was the second stop for gas and at that time he already made his presence known. Please don't blast me, I was just curious.

Yeah, I think at the point, she was just "frozen" and only doing what he said. We can all say, why didn't she do this or that. But we never know how we will react unless we are in that position.

I'm sure she was scared out of her mind - who wouldn't be. I can't say for sure how I would react, but I'm saying right now without any pressure and without a gun to my head, I'm going to run if he is in the car and I'm outside pumping gas as opposed to running when we both are out of the car and he is walking close behind me and I think at that point, if I start running, I'm running from side to side and not in a straight line. At least that's what I'm hoping for if I ever find myself in that position. Kudo's to her for keeping herself level headed enough to get away.

I still say something doesn't add up....why would she be getting gas completely across town from where she lives and works, on her way to work?

I heard last night that they found her car about a mile from where they found her. Sticking with my first instinct. The cheese is rotten in Denmark.
