Jese went off chasing something again in the wetlands in south plantation again. he is microchipped and my home number is listed. I will be outside calling his name. If someone in the south plantation area sees a three legged beagle mix with a red collar on please call my home number and my cell number of 919-949-2799

The proticall child has returned. He came back when I brought Laila back out. Guess he recognized her bark.

    Thanks all

    Shock collar or electric fence.

I think even with training his hunting instincts may still take over. But training is a definite must. Another thing is to put up a chain link fence. But that costs more $ than I have right now. I want to call Allstar fencing and see if they will allow me to make payments.

Initially this morning Jese had crawled under the chicken wire fencing I have in my side yard.

I'd try it. In this economy, anything is possilbe.

Good Luck. MIL & FIL have a Beagle and once her nose hits the ground she doesn't stop *tracking* and barking. :ack:

I am learning so much about beagle traits from him. I know he would come back. Just afraid he might get lost in the woods. You know, concentrating so much on the hunt and tracking part that he loses his bearings. I also fear that some unscrupulous person would find him and end up using him a a bait dog. Jese is such a warm gentle dog who longs to be loved by everyone. He loves to play with Laila and my cat Jazz. He loves to cuddle up on the futon and watch tv with me. He rests his head on my leg as he stares up at me and over at the tv.

When it's time for him to go OUT put him on a lead.

I believe that is illegal in Clayton City Limits.

If you are not in the limits, I find that is the only way (other than his pen) to keep ours from taking off.

If he's only letting the dog out to pee pee I don't have an issue with it.
Certainly would keep Jese from being a greasy spot on the road or lost in the woods behind his house, OH and there's a creek down there also. Not sure if a 3 legged dog can swim or not.

Problem is people keep their dogs on a lead all day, no cover, no water, no food etc...

Some laws are MEANT to be broken. JMHO of course.

MIL has a beagle and ties her to a lead when she let's her out.

No argument from me! Mine is on a lead a good portion of the day and I think as long as your responsible they can F Off!

Just read this and am so glad he found his way back home, safe and sound. It is so scarey when they get out and disappear! Starr, my cocker, she is a lot like your Jese...she slips out and her nose gets to smelling and she is off without a second thought and it scares the tar out of me and makes me so upset.

But I am glad he is home. :hurray:

Believe it I have had him on two different flexi leashes. He loves to take the nylon in his mouth and walk him self. He has biten through both of them. I so far have gotten him a short leash at agri supply that has a chain part. Its just a matter of getting the flexi part to add to it. Now if he can bite through chain that would be one pretty tough dog and would never have to worry about him :)

I want him to have some freedom while walking. Most of the time (about 97.5%) is is great. Its just that 2.5% when he gets a wiff of something good to chase. Right now he is laying down right under my feet.

not sure if you would call me old school or a yankee or what. I grew up in New Jersey and then to Delaware and to Florida. And everywhere I lived (mostly apartments) you had to have your dog on leash and walk them. So I just still do that.

I do love seeing Laila and Jese run around in the back yard chasing imaginary squirrels and jumping up on the trees. When Jese runs you would never realize he had only three legs. You would think that he has 4 legs and is the size of a Rotty.
