I was in the Lowe's Foods shopping center yesterday and saw a new store going in by the Chinese restaurant and Cindy's Nails......Katie Mac's, it's a childrens boutique. They had some cute stuff in there already but the sign still said Coming Soon. I'm not sure our area can support a store like that, seems like there have been several of them before.
I think it's a resale store. When our neighborhood had our yard sale over the summer a woman came up to me and said she had a resale store she was going to open, and she said hopefully by August, but obviously that didn't happen. So I'm assuming it's the same place...
This store had New stuff. They had the nice smocked dresses with the NC State, UNC, Duke embroidered on it. And also pretty birthday dresses and things like that. Definitely new merchandise.
If it's a New retail Boutique then I'm not sure how they would make it out there. The only one that ever did anything and stayed alive was Button's & Bows. They were open for about 10 years in down town Clayton. I really hated to see them go. Then Sarah Bee's opened behide Smithfields Chicken and she didn't do anything. The main reason for that is she had old stuff. She had owned a boutique in Cary and closed it down and just moved all her inventory to the new store. Some of the stuff she has was at least two years old. No one is going to pay those prices for old stuff. All I shop at is Children's Boutiques for my kids so I will have to stop in and take a look. I shop at Sweet Pea's in Smithfield and Padoodles in Fuquay most of the time. I love both of those stores alot. I'm just not sure many folks around that area shop for items like that.
I also noticed that store. They do have cute things in their, but I'm not sure if it a resale store. i notice a shirt in the window that had a toys r us tag riped off of it. maybe it's a combo?
I went. Nice little store. They have two sides to it. First half is brand new boutique merchandise. Though gorgeous, out of my league as far as prices go. Just can't do $62 for a little dress or boys' outfit. Knowing full well my kids would spill something on it w/ in an hour. However, many things would make nice baby gifts. Toward the back of the store is teh consignment part of it. Very cute & nice things. I had gotten 2 pair of shoes for my kids while there. One of them literally had not been worn & you could tell. Looked like the other pair had at best been worn 2 or 3 times. Go check it out. Never know what you may find. The new part of the store looked mostly for infants but some things did go up to size 5. What am I missing - how would it affect McKinley's - store vs. restaurant - just not getting it. Sorry.
I don't think he was saying the chick store was going to hurt McKinleys. It's a pretty simple concept for a guy. It matters not what happens in the Lowes Food Shopping center (In Clayton) just so Mckinleys is maintained and stays open.
