Dental Insurance stephanie, does this state offer low cost ins for kids to people who dont qualify for medicaid? in florida in 03 i got insurance for my daughter for like 20 a month, had a low copay.it was called kid care.
They do. We didn't qualify for medicaid or the other. Plus, since our insurance is decent, we don't try. Just our meds is what we were looking for help w/. They were originally costing us around $5K a month & of that we paid a couple hundred a month for them. It's gone done since finally the expensive ones have gone generic. As for your question, it is called NC Healthchoice. I've heard it is not bad. Worth checking out. Good luck. Stephanie--mom to 7
Part of the reason is if you're a school teacher/state employee you're not covered by BCBS, you're covered by the self-insured State Health Plan. BCBS is only the administrator. The State Health Plan has a high number of participants who are female, a high number between 50 and 64, making it a very unprofitable plan. Very good deal for BC/BS as they get paid so much to handle each claim, without liability.
Thanks for the advice PRM!!! Checked with SECU and got a great plan for the hubby and the kids and it is nearly $150/month cheaper than adding them to my plan. We can also end it anytime, unlike my one year commitment with the state. Now, on to other things...like finding DH a job!!
Thanks for the info...I knew it was the old farts driving up costs! J/K...I think. I guess it is a trade off since I get my insurance for free. I am glad I could find another plan for my family at a better rate, though.
Harleygirl, have you looked at the colleges, I went to the Wayne community Dental college and paid $15.00 including Xrays, that would save you a ton of money and still get the work done. They did a good job. For those who are looking to put braces on children or adults teeth, check out the UNC school of dentistry, my son had them and it was half price of what a regular office charged my sister for my niece. Hope this helps.
What kind of job? I know that JMH is hiring in Smithfield and Clayton for several positions. The pay is not always the best, but the benefits are great and the prescriptions are awesome, we can use the hospital employee pharmacy and save a TON of money. What I used to pay $50.00 copay a month is now $35.00 for THREE months. :hurray: I think our dental is under 12.00 (Met Life) a month and our insurance for my husband and I is 230.00 a month. Our kids have medicaid, but we have insurance and that is VERY important at the moment.
