Yesterday Laila was feeling fine. did our usually Saturday stuff. Went off to the dump, then to Petsmart and then to the dog park. Spent about 2 1/2 hours there. While at Petsmart got her usually biscuits from the people there, And when we got home she had her frosty paws ice cream. She wouldn't eat her dinner. She did throw up yesterday morning. Picked it up and tossed it in the garbage. Didn't think much about it till last night. Guess something didn't agree with her. She has been very restless all night. Going from her crate to the bed, then to the living room and back to the crate, Shes made a couple of mistakes inside (which is not like her). When I took her out for her last walk she peed and ate some grass. Normally I would of stopped her but by then I was figuring she had an upset tummy so I let her eat it so she would throw up. She threw up some clear liquid. Looked like there may of been some red (or black) flakes in it. She finally started to rest around 4am this morning. She is curled up on my bed. I figure I would let her rest for now. Any thoughts? All night I worried and prayed. Thanks for reading.
I really don't know, but.... Our dog has vomited clear liquid a time or two, with little specs of this or that, and it has always taken care of itself. She probably just has an upset stomach, which happens to the best of us. Maybe it was the snacks and perhaps she found something on the ground at the park. I am just guessing, though. How old is Laila? Just a couple/few years right? After all she's been through, I am sure this will pass. (read her myspace page. Wow, she is so lucky to have you!!!) If it were me, as long as she doesn't get any worse, I'd just give it a bit of time. Good luck!
Yea I have dogs in the past that have vomited and such and in a day or so they were their usual self. Thinking back, it did take her a bit longer to poop yesterday. I didn't go up to check it out. So I do not know if it was diarrhea. But there was a little mistake poop I just found on the floor. Picked it up (in paper towel of course), looked at it. Fairly solid and nothing I could tell was in it (like worms). Its just with all she has gone through in her life I worry like heck about her. I am already planing on measuring her up to get her fitted with a front end wheel chair for sometime in the future. As far as age she just turned 3 on October 13, 2009
just the usual amount of biscuits, But maybe you are right maybe she picked up something at the park. I hope its not serious.
Google over the counter meds that are safe.... there are pepto type things that are ok. I would take away her food for 12 hours... let her tummy rest. But offer water. Then give her a bland diet, like rice for another 12 hours. But that may be overkill....
Going to pick up some pepcid ac for her. and for dinner give her a little bit of rice with chicken broth. She has plenty of water to drink.
Had her out about an hour and a half ago for about 25 minutes she walked around and hung out with the neighbor kids. Smiled wagged her tail then as we were bringing her and Jese back down the drive way she threw up again some yellowish color. I know she had plenty of water today to drink. Getting ready to let her and Jese out again.
update Well I think the worst is over. Put down her normal dinner minus the drugs she normally takes and she ate it like it was going out of style. She has been drinking lots of water. I will continue to monitor fo the next couple of days.
24 hour bug Well Laila is her usual self again. Slept through the night with no problems. Did a good #2 this morning. Her appetite is back. She ate her breakfast like it was going out of style, then went on to try to eat Jese's breakfast. I had to pick it up so she wouldn't eat too much. Thanks All. I'll post again tonight just to let you know how she made it through the day.
I've been thinking about her! My babies have allergies. My Elvis had them really bad! He used to throw up yellowish crap when they were flaring up really bad! Benedryl always helped him! He actually ended up taking to prescriptions for allergies but the Benedryl always helped when it really flared. 1 mg per pound.
What a relief! I keep a container of Pedialyte so that if someone starts vomiting it will keep them from dehydrating too fast. Hope Laila continues to feel better.
Got home and laila was so happy to see me as well as Jese. Went out side for our walk and when we came in I sat down for a few and laila was bouncing off the walls pretty much playing with Jese. She at her dinner as if she had never seen food before. She is now staring at me as I eat my Burrito I got at Moe's I am pretty sure she is all well. Thanks to all for their suggestions and prayers.
