Really...this is a computer question. I'm not usually one for the Black Friday mania but last year ended up at Best Buy at 5am and did get a super deal on some electronics. This year for Christmas I'm thinking of getting our 17 yr old a laptop. She's starting JCC soon and will need it for her online courses etc. Not concerned about gaming, but it needs to run fast and reliably. Would someone PLEASE tell me what I should look for...I'm totally illiterate when it comes to the types of processors, memory etc. I will stand in line next Friday if I have to in order to get a good laptop at a ridiculously low price. Thanks!

DH got DS one over the weekend at Office Depot for $319.00 that had all kinds of bells and whistles. He's the computer guru, not me, so I will have to get the ad out and look it up for you. It was good enough that we bought one for one of the nephews for their parents too. Each store only got three of them though. I am NOT standing in line at 5:00 am for anything. 8)

**note to self, send them the bill before credit card bill arrives, LOL.

Can someone please at least tell me what brand to get or stay away from? Is Dell better than Sony or Toshiba or HP? Looks like Best Buy only has a Dell small laptop/netbook for Black Friday.

My last 3 or 4 computers have been Dells, but I don't think I'll buy another one because I'm PO'd at them for pulling out of NC.:mrgreen:

Now that I believe. Told my boss I need a hardened one because of what it has to go through, and he correctly pointed out that we can buy two or three mid-priced computers for the cost of one hardened computer.

Taught a Reliability class for a while and the only time I recommend anyone buying an extended warranty, is for a laptop.
