I made something like that with fresh green beans from the garden last summer. O.M.G.

Throw in some fresh sliced tomatoes too. Off the hook!

So how long does it take to thaw the bird? I came home today and there is a huge one in my freezer. I guess the turkey fairy came.

Here is the sweet potatoe casserole recipe I promised last week.....

    Sweet Potato Casserole

3 cups of mashed sweet potatoes (I use the canned ones, it takes about 3 of the large size)
    1 cup of evaporated milk
    3/4 cup sugar
1 stick of melted butter or margarine
    2 eggs (beaten)
    1 tsp of cinnamon

Mix all the above ingredients together, beat together and pour into a casserole dish (9x9 or smaller)

    Topping
    1 cup of brown sugar
    1/3 cup of plain flour
½ stick of melted margarine or butter
    ½ cup of chopped pecans

combine ingredients until blended and "crumbly". Sprinkle across the top of casserole (will not cover entire top, as it melts it spreads) Bake in oven for 30-40 minutes, at 350. Dee-lish.

Don't forget about macaroni and cheese. Not the boxed kind either. The real deal with tons of cheese, baked in the oven or in a crock pot. The kids love it.

    This year I'm doing ...
    REAL mashed potatoes & gravy
    Sweet corn
    Rolls
Got pumpkin & apple pie for dessert WITH cool whip.

Used to have a pile of people at my house but that all went to hell in a handbasket. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

  19. This is like my recipe but I use fresh sweet potatoes. It takes a while to cook them, but it's so worth it. Also I skip the cinnamon and add a little vanilla. It's so yummy! The topping is exactly what I use. I'm making this tomorrow!!!
