We have some friends coming for the holidays and want to take them around to look at holiday lights in neighborhoods, parks, etc. This is something we would do with them in VA and MD. There were all kinds of parks with animated light displays that you could drive through and there were several homes/neighborhoods that were over the top with lights. Just love that stuff. Any suggestions?

Tonight the Glen Laurel Subdivision in Clayton will be lighting luminaries all over the subdivision. It is a beautiful sight to see along with all the decorations on the houses. Used to be a few houses that had lights set up to blink with music on a certain radio station, not sure if they are doing those this year.

    Good luck and have fun!

have you been to Meadow? go to Benson on 50 hwy and turn left, go thru town of Benson and out the other side. You will go over 95 hwy. Keep going on hwy 27 to Meadow and turn right at only light and go a few miles out and signs should be posted. Your make a left if you don't sit in mile or so of cars getting there. LOTS of people go

I believe the Glen Laurel luminaries were cancelled because of the weather. Decision made too early in my opinion!

Love Meadow Lights! It's only $2 a person for the train ride. Visit to Santa is free. And you can NOT leave w/ out some old fashioned candy from the candy store. Yummm. Enjoy it. Neuse does something too but not sure as I've never been.

Corner of Penny Road and Hunters Meadow Lane. Not sure what city that is, maybe Cary??? It's east of the Holly Springs Rd intersection. Gotta luv the animated "T Rex"!!

We tried to go to Meadow last night! The line was backed up onto the main road before you turn right. We turned around and will try again tonight or tomorrow...hoping the back up was because it was Sunday.

We went last night. The line to get there was long, but it moved fast. It wasn't terrible, I've seen much worse!

However, the line to ride the train was 1.5 hours long! So we had to tell Little Bit, who would have never waited that long, that the train was broken, lol....

Honestly, I've been to Meadow once or twice. I think its more tradition than anything else. The train is nice for the kiddies, though. I applaud the owner for his efforts to generate the Christmas spirit and his Nativity scenes, but its not something I'd go to every year and certainly not something I'm going to drive that distance to stand in line for.

Really what I'd like to do is find a place that has lights along a road and drive through. Sort of like the Chic-Fil-A light show a few years ago at Walnut Creek and back when Kerr sponsored it on the Greenfield Parkway.

I am thinking about going to Lake Myra, though. Another thing...is there any Christmas festivities that uses snow machines? For that brief few seconds of manmade snow at the end of the Clayton parade, it kinda spurred a bit more 'spirit' in me.

It's on New Bern Ave heading towards downtown Raleigh from the 440 loops. Should be really hard to miss.

If you ever been to a Christmas Market just about anywhere in Germany, looking at Christmas lights ain't quite the same thing,I wish there were something similar like it around here...I do miss them a lot!

Thanks for the link. We went out tonight. Very good. We can see how they won the contest. The owners are very nice. They offered us candy cane sticks. Answered all my grandkis questions. You need to get out of your car to get the best view.
