What about the competitive bidding system that saves tax payers money?

This is where we get it wrong. We don't want the inefficiency of gov't doing the work themselves and hiring people for work like this so we put it out to bid to do it 'right'. Then gov'ts give in to the 'spend less' crowd and go low-bid. Then we end up with a big puddle of ***** in our back yard for having done it on the cheap with a company concerned with one thing...profit.

No you are wrong. As I said above, the private company is risking their reputation and future bids if they go out there and do something half *****. If you leave it up to an entity with no competition (I.E the government) they couldn't care less....what's the risk?
