A prom garter. The girl can keep it or give it to her date. It's not too much of a tradition around here but in some areas the guys wear the garter around their arm and the girls wear the guy's tie or bowtie around their neck.

I never understood why people invest so much money in prom dresses since they will be on the floor longer than they are worn.

DD was at the dermatologists office last week, and the first thing she did was tell her about the dangers of tanning beds (even though DD has never been in one). She said she'd rather see her put at least a 15 SPF on and hang in the sun for a few hours that bake in a bed....

    No tanning beds for her....

Also, Y'all are crazy. I love my kids, but no way in hell are they getting a $400-$600 dress for prom! $43 earrings? Are you freaking kidding me?

My wedding dress was less than $100 ALTERED!

    Crazy I tell ya.....nuts....

Yeah, to each their own and if you have it to spend, more power to you, but it ain't happening here. Limos?? Really?? What happened to your date picking you up in his car? Why do they need limo's? They are underaged and shouldn't be drinking.......................................

One advantage to the limo is there's usually several couples to share the cost, plus you don't have to worry 'as much' about who's driving your baby around - or taking her parking...etc.. also sometimes parking can be problem for the dance locations.

That and I'm not worried about my child drinking (or any of the people with her) . . . it's the one's who DO make the poor decision to drink and drive that I worry about. It's really not that expensive if you get 6 or 8 kids to split the cost.
