I hate to hear that. We have used them in the past and everything was fine. Might have to rethink this year's prom. Thanks for the heads up. Sherry
Yes, we used them last year and they are awesome. We requested the same driver that we had last year because after the prom he took the kids to Krispy Kreme and then rode them around downtown and stopped a few times and took their pic in front of different landmarks. The limo was stocked with sodas, candy and chips, etc. when he got here and he even rolled out a red carpet for them to get in!
Lets get the facts straight :chillpill: My daughter placed a special order for a dress from a catalog at this business and was told this was an individual dress - not mass production. She paid for the dress - $200 and when she was showing it off to friends and family was informed that the same EXACT dress was in the JC Penney catalog for $99.99 The dress was purchased last Friday. She called the business owner today (with a copy of the JCP information in hand) and explained that she was sure this was an honest mistake and asked to be given the difference or a refund in the interest of good business. The business owner flatly refused and was very rude as well. Even though there is a no refund/exchange policy there is misrepresentation in the terms of sale so there should be some concessions. I can not beleive that she would take $100 from my daughter over one dress and risk ruining her good name. :nopity: We can start off with the simple things- #1- If your daughter ordered a dress through a CATALOG, it would not be one-of-a-kind, and could easily be reproduced. This statement was never made. #2- There is a sign in the front of the business, by the cash register (where she paid for the dress) that clearly states ALL SALES ARE FINAL. That sounds like a no refund/exchange policy to me. #3- You weren't on the phone when your daughter called back, so you have only one side of the story- your daughters side, who obviously was not giving you the whole story - to go by. Fact of the matter is- your daughter called and rudely demanded her money back, not wanting to hear anything about the policy. She found a better deal, and wanted to pocket some extra money. Understandable. But calling a business, and threatening to ruin their business and reputation is NOT a way to handle these things. There WAS an offer to refund the dress, but due to the constant attitude and threats, that offer was taken back. #4- This IS a small business, and there is far more work involved in finding and ordering a dress than that of a large retail chain. It is your daughters responsibility to do her window shopping BEFORE making a purchase, not after. She commited to buying the dress. And if you have been in the store before, you should know of the policy. There is nothing that states the store would beat any advertised price. A small business cannot do that and succeed against large reatail chains. #5- If you were to get pulled over for speeding, you wouldn't ask the Officer to change the speed limit so it wouldn't apply to YOU, would you? Or more so, in this case, DEMAND that the speed limit be changed, or you would make a complaint and try to ruin the Officer's career, would you? That is what has happened. Your business is greatly appreciated, and may the prom be a delightful experience for your daughter. But the threats will not be tolerated. Thank you for your time.:grouphug:
First - My daughter was not looking for a better deal because she trusted the small business owner and thought she had gotten one. Obviously, she was lied to when she went to order the dress (and she had an adult witness present with her when she ordered it). Second - We have been told since our transaction that the business owner is a very difficult person to deal with (personal opinion given to us verbally by another person that has dealings with this business) - obviously we see the same thing now. Third - She was not rude until she realized she had been ripped off by an adult she trusted and that had misrepresented the situation to her. The business owner told her that this was a "specialty catalog". She has a witness. Fourth - There have been no threats at any time. If she were on this board giving "glowing reviews" of the business - that would be OK. It is just as much the right of any consumer to give out bad reviews as good ones. At no time has the business owner been threatened in any way. We have followed the proper procedures filed our complaints with the appropriate agencies, and just hope that other consumers do not fall into the same situation as we did - believing someone you thought you could trust because you had done business with them before (that is why she did not even go anywhere else). We are perfectly within our right to advertise our experience any way we choose and we were disatisfied with our experience in that store. Hopefully, no one else will fall into the same situation and as responsible consumers we have tried to make our experience known as much as possible. This is a public forum and is used to share opinions and experiences every day.
Awesome - I've never seen that one To Mr. or Mrs Business owner - one satisfied customer will gain you one customer. One unsatisfied customer will lose you 10. And actually that's an old saying - with the internet I'm sure it's much higher. I'm just sayin....
