Duhhhhhhh..... cause u have someone posting something and it's their ONLY post and they seem like either they are the owner or speaking for the owner. I was making sure which it was. So glad I have to explain it to you..... a simple yes or no would have worked...... but you have to tear a post apart so your lonely lil self will have something to ponder on all day. U need to take a trip to Adam & Eve's.... they sell the pocket size thing u need! Shoot, I'll even buy the batteries for u so u can RELAX!
I have not read through the entire thread but from what you've said so far, you are doing the wrong thing in my opinion. You go to a local store and buy a dress from a catalogue for $200.00. After wearing the dress you find it for less at another store...and you want the store owner that you bought it from to give you money back? You can't be serious! My birthday is coming up and there is a certain type of cologne I like. When my daughter asked what I wanted for my b-day I told her to get me a bottle of it. Now Belks has it for $55.00, but when i went to Wal-Mart the other day they have the exact same cologne for $35.00. If my daughter buys it from Belk, should I be able to use it for a couple of days and then take it back and say "Oh, Wal-Mart has this for twenty dollars less so just give me the difference". No way anyone would do that. You bought a dress and feel like you paid too much. That's not the owners fault, it's yours. Don't badmouth a local business person for doing their job. They sold you the dress YOU picked out.
Please take time to read the entire thread before commenting. The facts were misrepresented to us. The price of the dress was not the point. that was the point. It is called being honest to the consumer. I do agree with your analogy if it were that simple - this is not. I also agree that it is our fault for believing someone we had done business with before. LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY. We will not do it again.
Well I'm not going to read the entire thread, because from page 7 until now it detiorated into talk of sex and prom nights. But, i have read your posts. How can it be misrepresented? How do you know that some designer at JCP wasn't thumbing through the same catalogue you were and say "Wow, i like that dress, I think I'll rip off the design"? Or maybe someone at JCP decided it was a cool dress, contacted the people that made it, and offered to carry it in their store? If it wasn't for stores offereing the same products for cheaper prices there would be no such thing as Wal-Mart. You failing to shop around isn't the owner's fault. You ordered a dress, the owner got it it, you paid for it, and they gave it to you. What's wrong with that? You are mad at yourself and taking it out on the owner of the store.
In all seriousness, I can barely remember the name of the girl I took to the prom much less her dress. Proms are overrated.
ENOUGH :beathorse:Thank you, Panthercrazy, for understanding. There are alot of valid points here. However, Mrs. Mom, you did not hear the phone conversation where your daughter threatened to ruin the business. Of course she is not going to tell you that. Imagine this..."Hey mom! My day was great. Lots of homework. I found the dress I bought at another store...for WAY less. And I wanted to save some money, so I called the business and threatened to ruin their reputation if I didn't get my money back. I was totally rude. You would have been SO proud!" I don't think it went that way. But none-the-less, true is true. This IS a public forum, and you can basically post anything you want...good OR bad. And the store has a policy, whether you agree to it or not. And you can't fight for someone over hearsay. The story will get changed EVERY time. It's the old telephone game. Teenagers hear what they want to hear. A one of a kind prom dress doesn't exist when you order it out of a catalog. The best thing to do is let this lie as it is. Spreading negativity about someone will not help you sleep better at night, and vengance is never worth it.
Just my 2 cents worth of opinion. Based on the information of the OP I believe the store owner made a good decision in this situation. The business owner acted on the advice of the customer to order the dress and the customer paid for the dress. The purchaser only became dissatisfied because friends and family found the same dress at a cheaper price. This happens all the time. But unless the business advertises "we will match any other advertised price" they have no obligation to return funds. They are a small business. It is hard to compete with the large box stores purchasing leverage.
yes but as a small store, they cannot risk losing customers as much as a larger store and obviously this was a repeat customer and if satisfied would probably have returned again. To me, if i was the business owner, refunding $100 to insure future business and free positive advertising would have been worth it but hey, i was raised differently than some, in my working experience except in extreme cases, the customer is always right because without the customer there is no business.
