Got the call at 5:44 for the two hour delay. Why couldn't this have been announced last night? Boneheaded move to not make the decision and place the robo calls last night.
Why is it all of a sudden that everyone - especially the school - thinks calling my cell is the best way to get in touch with me? I might turn the thing every three or four days or so...
Did johnston co not get that much snow? Harnett co schools are closed. We have about 4 or 5 inches here and my power keeps going out.
I'm on the outskirts of Clayton and we only got enough to barely cover some grass. By 6:30am it was already melting pretty fast. Our roads never had anything on them. Nsane-the recorded message will automatically go out to whatever number they have on file for you as your primary contact number. The messages go to our home phone so if you don't want them to go to your cell phone you may want to contact the school and have them pull your child's emergency contact record. Just a thought. No snowman building today for us!
I agree, or at the very least made before 5:00AM. I know this because I was up watching the streamer across the bottom of WRAL, and every other county had made the call way before then. The decision to delay/cancel school is not based on how much snow Clayton gets, or Kenly gets, but rather how much any part of the county gets. The WHOLE county gets the same call. The southern part of the county got a pretty good amount vs. some other parts, and driving was hazardous, thus the decision to delay school for the entire school system. I told my kids WAY before bedtime that they would probably have school, but there would probably be a 2 hour delay. These decisions are made for safety reasons. A little common sense could have been used to make this decision a whole lot sooner than 5:00AM.
I know. That's what confuses me. For the last six years they've used my home number. Just recently they've started to use the cell. And that number hasn't changed in 5 years either. So there is nothing new going on except their new decision on what number to call.
