Johnston County Animal Protection League. They can help on Saturdays during adoption events with walking the dogs. :)

Interfaith Food Shuttle. I believe they allow kids 14 and up to volunteer with or without a parent. I would love to get one or more of my kids volunteering there this summer instead of sitting around the house bored all day. PM me if you want contact info and/or other details.

    Thanks...

The Johnston County Public Library. Also it's really fun during June-July time frame when they have the young reader's summer program in full swing.

Through JCAPL you can also help take care of cats at the PetSmarts in Garner. That is also a great family community service.

The Cleveland Library has thousands of books to get shelved

Here are part of the tasks needing help - 70,000 books and videos in collection

Service desk help, check books in and out, type spine labels
Put on address labels, bar codes, spine labels, genre labels and overtape
    Shelve books
Look up in library catalog to get shelving information
Sort fiction by author's last name
    Sort non-fiction by category
