I know about basic needs, I am already going to call them. But does anyone have any other recommedations for a place a teenager can do some volunteer work.
Johnston County Animal Protection League. They can help on Saturdays during adoption events with walking the dogs.

The Johnston County Public Library. Also it's really fun during June-July time frame when they have the young reader's summer program in full swing.
Through JCAPL you can also help take care of cats at the PetSmarts in Garner. That is also a great family community service.
