My husband was lucky enough to go back to work for the company that he had been laid off from. Since the ncesc withholds the first one or two (not sure anymore) unemployment checks after you file a claim will he now receive at least one more check from them even after going back to work?
    Thanks!

You'll get one NCESC check the first week of the perm. job for the previous week unemployed. That's it.

    Thanks!
I guess this was set up so that you would be covered during the week that your employer holds back your first check !?

I have no idea why they make you wait one week. Maybe to keep people who blow through a lot of jobs from wasting time/money.

    Check out my COBRA post.

No, its because technically you are filing (for example today) for last week when you were legitmately unemployed. You can't file for a current week, during that week. The initial week or two (i forget which it is, my claim took almost 5 weeks to get straightened out ) isn't "held back", it is just a waiting period that everyone has to muddle through. Now that may be by design because when you leave your employer you may still have a paycheck coming.

Has anyone else (who normally receives their benefits) had problems last week or this week w/ not receiving their pay?

We've tried calling...:banghead: and emailing them, but haven't been able to talk to anyone yet?

Try calling the "off the wall locations" for answers to questions. I call the Dunn office for answers. Haven't had to wait longer than 5 minutes. It doesn't have to be your county to call for questions. Pick the small town locations in rural counties from the phone number list on the web.

Might it be because of Senator Bunning and his little stunt last week.

I'm on the first extention, and my benefits have been being paid without interruption. Just checked my bank account and this past Sundays filing was deposited last night.
