Parmigiano-Reggiano

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parmigiano-Reggiano says regular parmesan is imitation. I've never cared one way or another..I never liked parm. Always smelled like vomit to me. I have horrible memories from my younger years of going to Pizza Hut and sitting beside someone that would put parmesan on their pizza. The smell was inescapable. Well, my taste buds must be'a changin'. I've been craving it. So much so that I bought the real stuff from Lowe's deli. I got a ½lb wedge. It's $19.99 a pound! No, that's not a typo...see ---> $19.99. It's pretty good...not real sure I'd pay 10 bucks again though.

How long will it keep? Can you freeze cheese?

 

Wow, is it laced in gold? I prefer freezing the cheese over cutting the cheese. :jester:

I think parm smells like stinky feet. I can't stand it when someone uses it at the same table as me. :ack:

 

I agree. it smells like really bad feet. My family always refrigerates it to keep it fresh. Personally I have been on a pepper jack kick myself.

 

That dried out sawdust crap that stinks like puke is nothing like the real thing.
