Rule #1: In contrast to what most peopls think, ie, "You're so lucky, you can work whenever you want", the exact opposite is true: You have to work when your customers want you to work. Disclaimer: This rule is rigidly followed ONLY if you wish to STAY in business!
I *just* filled out my census form, but I think the mail has already gone by today. And really? Negro is on there? I didn't think anybody used negro anymore. Can I get in trouble for writing honkey, cracker, european-american, and hillbilly to describe my children and I?
Good, so did I. It was a toss-up between redneck and hillbilly for Thing II. But hillbilly always makes me laugh, so I chose that.
Its bf's business but it affects us both. He's supposed to open Monday. He's done it before but I haven't and I'm really nervous.
It has its pro and cons. There is a certain amount of gratification to it, but you quickly learn that 9 to 5 loses its significance. Plus, if it works out, you'll have prosperous times and lean times. There can be a lot of sacrifice in having your own business. You have to be prepared to put your shoulder to the wheel when there's nobody else to push.
The 9 to 5 is already out the window. He has to get out late at night and holidays already. He already has customers lined up and a couple of big contracts so it sounds like it will start off good just hope it continues.
What a wacky day. Left one job yesterday with no firm prospects, but ended up with a new one starting on Monday. I guess everything happens for a reason!! :jester:
They stated that they put Negro on the form because we still have some people living from that generation. I put Mutt for each person in our house. Sherry
