    Hi,
my son's birthday is this week - he'll be 14. He is trying to decide where he would like to go out to dinner. Nothing is really grabbing his attention, and so I am trying to find some restaurants that have amazing desserts, and hopefully at least decent food. Does anyone have any places that they recommend?
    Thanks for your help!!

We've been enjoying the peanut butter pie at TGIF's. Not sure if you are looking for a chain or a local spot. I don't usually get dessert out, so that may not be much help.

Hope he has a great B-Day though.

Thanks for the input! I don't mind a chain if they have great desserts. The idea for picking a restaurant for its desserts, came to me because of a chain. In California there is a place called Claimjumper. They have some amazing desserts.

Let me drop a few inches first. Then we'll be back.

How are your cookie experiments coming along?

You wouldn't think it, but one of the best desserts I've had at a restaurant was at Charlie's BBQ. Get the Chocolate cake. OMG!!! Chocolate on Chocolate with creamcheese middle and candybar in the middle too! Huge slice for less than $3 (and that is with tax might I add). Whole lot cheaper than the Cheesecake factory, and every bit as good.

That's the kind of dessert my son would like. Chocolate covered in chocolate, with a side of chocolate. I will keep it in mind.

And the food at Charlie's is wonderful. Everything from their BBQ, brisket, to burgers!!! Don't forget the hush puppies and/or sweet potato chips. Or, start with dessert and go from there!

    Happy birthday!!!

I have eaten at Charlie's previously and liked the food and the service. My son wasn't very keen to go there though. We went to Red Robin (yummm) for his birthday. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we all got the bottomless root beer floats. By the time dinner came we were almost too stuffed to eat. Thanks for everyone's advice and well wishes!

Yes! Bottomless rootbeer floats are $2.99. They are made with Barqs Rootbeeer and softserve ice cream. They were awesome. A regular soda is $2.50 so a float is a real deal! Its a good thing that the Red Robin is not closer - I could develop a drinking problem.
