Where is the best (cheapest) place to have tires put on and an alignment done? I *do* have a BJ's membership, I know it is 15.00 per tire there. Is that reasonable?
Try calling Clayton tire out on 70, they have been good to us in the past. I do know it's $15 at Sam's too.
I've always gotten the work done at BJ's (Munroe) and thought they were fair; if you buy the tires there, they do the free rotation for the life of the tires. I know that it's extra for the alignment, but I have never had any trouble with them.
Cleo, I was referred to Massey's in Selma by at least 5 people when I was asking around for my niece. I'm not sure how much they charge for tires but their front-end alignment was $59 which was the cheapest we had found. Very nice people and did a great job.
I trust Danny's Car Care beside Farm Bureau on 301 in Smithfield and Atlantic Ave Tire on Harrod Street just off Atlantic Ave in Raleigh. I've done business with Atlantic Ave for 16 years and have never had one complaint. Danny seems to be a good, honest guy. He's not a khaki and polo type owner. He is dressed for mechanic work right along with his service techs.
Sometimes cheapest isn't the best way to go...especially when it's dealing with something that you ride in.
They would need to do a diagnostic report to see if alignment is even an issue. After they do that, they should show you the computer printout which will show if theres a problem, its not that hard to understand, they will explain it. If your old tires were worn out, they were probably the culprit for what you think may be an alignment issue. Your best bet is to go to a place to have them install the new tires, dont say anything about the alignment, they will let you know if theres a problem when they balance the tires. -gary
Just had mine done. I prefer using a body shop for alignments. They're the pro's on alignment issues. I use Haddock, $59 for a 2 wheel alignment. No matter where you go, check your cars rear axle type. Some shops will sell you a 4 wheel alignment when your rear wheels can't even be aligned. http://www.haddockcollision.com/
Gustav - I don't plan on telling them to do an alignment, but I do plan on asking for them to check and see. In the meantime, I don't want to go to the most expensive place in town. - Gretel
You crack me up. Anyway, Clayton Tire doesn't generally recommend unnecessary stuff, at least they haven't to me. I've had my other van in there several times thinking I needed this or that and a lot of the time, they told me the van didn't need whatever it was. Alignment comes to mind as well as shocks one time. The springs just needed some lubrication, it wasn't the shocks themselves making the racket.
Lewis Tire in Clayton (he sponsored our tball team) Jason is great to work with and he does all our stuff!
