What do you expect given what is going on in the Middle East?

Drive less...stay at home. That's about the only thing to do.

This is a result of the current mid east situation. here's where we put our money where our mouths are. Do we really want and care enough about these people to support them in having western style democracy when it means gas is heading for 5.00 a gallon?

I'm not trying to hijack this into a political discussion so let's don't. I'm sure I have no idea what the average Chnese citizen thinks. I was asking more about US citizens. Were you thinking bandmom was thinking of China when she made this post?

I had no intention of making this a political spitting match. Not the place for it.

make it a law that you can only walk or ride a bicycle to the liquor store.... no combustion engines allowed.

    That'll save a bundle :jester:

I was shocked at how quickly it went up in a single day...I paid $3.15 two days ago, and then my husband paid $3.45 the very next day (same general area). When does it start to count as price gouging? :? It just seemed like so much in such a few short hours.

It is my understanding that it could up, in the next week, $.60 per gallon.

We're expecting quite a hike. We can NOT drive a fuel efficient car as they don't make one in the size we need. that being said, we already do the short cuts everyone tells you to do. Make sure car is checked out & tires are inflated, lighten the load, do an all in one trip, etc. No possible cuts to make here. My husband commutes to Cary and back. We do all kinds of specialist appointments for our kids. Going to be a tough year I fear. But more than the gas, I'm more concerned w/ food prices going up. They're talking about a triple price increase on food. I can not even imagine. We are doing everything in our power to make cuts anywhere we can. However, I think these increasing gas prices are going to have a big time ripple effect on prices in general. Especially, if we loose Suez access for ships to cut through. I definitely am watching this all very cautiously for sure. We have to hop on an international flight in April. No date yet so can not purchase tickets. We are being told to expect severe sticker shock due to increase in jet fuel. Umm, this will add thousands to trip costs. But, you suck it up and somehow find a way to work with these ever inflating prices. I think we'll be vacationing in our back yard this summer. LOL. Thanks to those sharing where the cheap prices are. I too have heard it's going to keep going way up. Would love to hear how others are going to try to save money during this time. Maybe we can get ideas off each other in order to try to counter balance the gas increase. Can't wait to hear what others have to say on all this increase in prices. (please, no political discussions though-- don't think I can take that too).

Not to fulfill Harvey's wet dream, but the only thing I can do is carpool (easy boy). The food thing is what I will have to suffer. Most of the meat I buy these days is already in the discount bin. Will probably have to give up cable; the gym or internet for a while if prices go up too much.

as one of those disgusting hippies... I can live on red beans and rice with one serving of green vegetable a day and make out cheaply. I don't want to, but I can and I can ride my bike to the store and carry it back in my backpack no problem, along with a box of powdered milk. I too, have to haul my gear in my longbed truck... but it is a V6 at least. I quit my gym, bought an exercise ball, filled some gallon jugs with playground sand to lift and keep toned, and ride my bike for cardio. Total cost...practically nothing. Push ups are free as well. Switched my phone to straight talk which is as good as any I've ever had except for the ****ty 411 (but it is free) and three buck chuck at the house will do just fine instead of going out, which I don't do unless I'm working anymore anyway. We gotta do what we gotta do.

I thought I was seeing things when I came home last night. Sandhus @ Amelia Church and Guy Rd. went from 3.11 yesterday morning to 3.39 last night. Over the weekend I thought 3.14 up around 40/42 was bad! I was happy to just fill the car up at 3.28 down on South Saunders St. before its gets worse. :?

When a station is selling for $3.18 yesterday morning, and then you watch an employee go out and change the price to $3.35 at lunch time, and then ask them if they got a new shipment of gas in that day or the day before and they say no....

    There you go.
